"AAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
She had never had to run this far or fast before, but then again she hadn't expected the boys to have followed her for so long. Now she felt cornered, she had hit one of the boys with her book, knocking him out instantly, but it only made the other two a lot angrier, and now she was running for her life down the abandoned sidewalk, her mind thinking desperately for a way to get out of this mess.
"You have to stop running soon enough, bitch," one of the boys bellowed in fury, his arms pumping as he ran after her. The other boy was cackling, enjoying the chase as Kagumi kept going, worrying and eyes trying to fill with tears as the pains in her arms and legs from the beating she got before she ran off. She was getting tired, her legs would give way any second now, so she had to find a way to do something. Where was the office? She had remembered the card, down to the color of the font, and her mind thought of a map and where she was, it should be nearby.
On her pained feet, she took a sharp left, it should be that one down there. She felt herself gain her second wind as she ran down the way, but she gave a fearful scream as she was grabbed by the arm by them, dragged into the alleyway next to the building. She had only a few feet to go and now she didnt know what was about to happen. The boys swung her around with a smug look and squeezed her arm tighter, taking pleasure in her whimpering. "Should have taken the beating, whore," he murmured in her ear with singeing breath. She could hear the sound of a blade, and without a second thought, she screamed, one that sounded more like a call to God rather than her usual yelp.
" SOMEBODY HELP ME!"

Skrit skrit skrit.
The sound of Mikami's fountain pen was audible in his quiet office, busily working across the paper. It was an ordinary day at work, although Mikami was a bit on edge...he had a doctor's appointment soon. He went once a month, and he never really told anyone about the ordeal.
Namely because he wanted to appear perfect for his God...and having to go in for therapy and his blood pressure once a month was less than flawless.
For now, however, he was all right, save for the new pair of glasses he'd had to pull out, and the bandages over cuts on his forehead and the bridge of his nose. Deep brown eyes were fixed on his writing, calm and quiet as usual - until he heard a scream for help from outside the window. In a flash, he was out of his seat, running for the door, past some curious co-workers.
That voice-!
Knowing that no one would likely be stupid enough to commit a crime in plain sight in front of a law office, he turned down the alley, coming into sight of the struggle. The light shone into the alley from behind him, glinting off the fountain pen he still held - no, brandished - and silhouetting him. The pen looked like some sort of holy weapon...and he looked as if the light were on his side.
"LET. HER. GO."
The voice he used was not kind, it was not gregarious in any way...instead, it was filled with righteous fury. "I am a CRIMINAL PROSECUTOR. You harm a HAIR on that girl's head, and you will be tried to the fullest extent possible by law!"
His free hand slipped upward, tugging off his glasses and neatly folding them. Subconscious. With the glasses gone, he looked less bookish...more ferocity shone in his eyes. Threatening.
"...And your names will be all over the news."

With the sound of her screams, it only seemed to egg them on and they came closer, putting the cold blade to her neck, and hovering over her, the one holding the blade had beer on his breath, so much for Roger and his rules, huh? Her breathing became staggered and worried, her chest heaving a bit as tears streamed down her cheeks in pure terror, the image of being back in that room 3 years ago tied up as the criminal was ready to kill her after killing Megumi, all of those images came back in a flash, and she could feel herself reverting back to that state.
With the image fresh in her mind, the terrified girl dug her nails, frightened, into the arms of her attackers, bracing herself and hoping God, please help me, please... She had made a promise to hope, she had sworn she would, but now that was all that she had left to do as the weight of the two boys beared down upon her. Now all she could do was hope and pray that smeone would help....
Let...her...GO!
It seemed to have taken its effect, because the forceful voice that now rang in her ears caused the two boys to turn around with a ferocious glare, from the corner of her eyes she could see the shadow of someone, surrounded by what looekd like an almost heavenly glow, she closed her eyes, she couldnt believe what she was seeing, an angel?
He introduced himself and her eyes went wide, "Sir prosecutor," she murmured. The boys picked up on it and turned back on her, with grins on their faces, " Hear that Joey? We're gonna be famous, and all we have to do is slit her little throat, and then maybe we kill the law man too, just to make the deal sweeter." The boy named Joey seemed to catch wind of Mikami's drift, and he let go of her, backing away, "hey baka-ne, dont you want this?" He shook his head vigirously, "and why not?"
"Because vale (samoan for idiot)," she said with her breath a bit better, " you kill me and him, Kira is going to get you. He will kill you to for killing me." The color drained from the boys face and she felt his grip on her soften a bit.
"At least I'll go out famous," he let go, "you stay there girl, while I go get your little friend here." Kagumi bit her lip, in comparison to the three of them, Mikami wasn't so little as he said. Nonetheless, he charged after Mikami, knife gleaming in his hand while she had to deal with the weight of Joey, who was holding her back while she struggled in worry.

Mikami was over six feet - tall for a Japanese man - so the comment from the kid was responded to with a sharp, humorless laugh. As the thugs talked things out, the man was slipping his coat off, tossing it to one side. Getting ready. Underneath, he was wearing a black dress shirt with a green vest. Not great for a fight, but it would have to do, and it was an improvement over the jacket. It was also enough to see that the man was slim, but not skinny - he had strong shoulders, and was sure-footed.
"I tried to warn you - you will be judged, and I will aid God when the time comes. Until then, I won't sit idly by...."
He stopped speaking as the man rushed at him, spinning the pen around in his hand so that he could stab with it if need be. But a knife was more of a weapon than a pen, and he knew that - the best offense would be a good defense.
Raven hair flew about his intense face as he threw himself to one side, plowing over a garbage can to trip the attacker up on either the garbage or the rolling can itself.

She was frantically clawing at Joey's large arm as the scene unfolded in front of her. Now the frightened stream of tears had become tears of pure frustration as she tried desperately to break free of the boy's monsterous grasp. All the while that she was struggling all Joey did was hold her and clasp a hand over her mouth as if she were nothing but a housecat that needed to be held, and even then his grip was strong. While he did this he only looked forward with devotion a little affected by the young girl's tears. When he charged, Mikami had appeared more than ready to defend himself, but when he knocked a trash can aside, the boy didn't seem so ready for the sudden onslaught. He slipped on a random wrapper, and before he could even react, he fell over the trash can, knocking himself out on the concrete.
"James!"
It was the first time the boy talked, he suddenly threw Kagumi out of the way, making Kagumi hit the wall so hard it knocked her out almost instantly. He ran, frightened, to his fallen comerade, feeling his pulse and looking terrified. Whoever the guy was, he wouldn't mess with him, he just did the gruntwork - he didn't like to fight
"Speak to me buddy, you alright?" He asked frantically, trying to shake him. He felt his pulse, he wasn't dead, just asleep. He looked up at the man, it was the head of the snake thing chop off the head and everything else falls with it.
He picked the James up with ease as he looked out into the street, then back to the girl. He hoped he didn't hurt her that much, though he didn't feel her worth it, he had to do what James said, so without another word and a fearful look at the man, he slung James over his shoulder and ran off.

The Prosecutor didn't say a word as the young men went away, one of them unconscious.
Cowards. Useless things. God will judge them soon enough.
He thought about calling the situation in, but decided he had more important matters at hand. One of his co-workers could handle the reporting of the crime...but Kagumi was hurt. Leaving his coat (with his glasses still in the pocket) off to the side for the moment, Mikami swept towards her, dropping to his knee to inspect the damage.
"Miss Kagumi." His voice was gentle again, the anger gone - but it was firm, and loud enough to try and wake her. Gingerly, he brushed some hair out of her face, trying to determine if there was any severe damage that could prevent him from moving her. Slipping his pen onto his vest, he very gently placed his hands behind her neck, cautiously checking if it was broken or bleeding.
"Miss Kagumi, can you hear me?"
He himself was just fine - James couldn't land a hit before he went down. The worst that had happened to him was that one of the bandages that had been on his face before the scuffle had started to peel, showing off a small gash where glass had dug in.

To overview the injuries, Kagumi had gotten more injuries from the pre-run beating rather than after she took off. Her hands had cuts on them, and were sore from the excess of fighting she really did. Her face had not been touched except for the light cut beneath her chin where the knife had been. Her body was bruised and sore, and her hair was more disoriented, shocked by all the tripping and pain. All and all she looked a little pathetic aside from the untouched face, so the fact she was knocked out gave her some okay resting time.
The only thing that got her to come to was the arrival of a familiar voice into her conscience. She stirred a bit and the pain shot up and down her body, her face showed signs of her flinching a bit, but she looked like she was going to wake up.
On the other hand, Joey hadn't run that far, just far enough to get him where he needed to go...
He looked down at his friend in frustration. "Why man? God wake up wake up." His eyes fell to the silvery knife in his friend's hand, his eyes darkened. That guy, he would make him pay for this.
He pulled the thing from his hand and left him there while he returned to the alley in a determined rage. He flashed the knife, " This is for my friend you son of a bitch!" And he thrust the knife at Kagumi through the man.

A sigh of relief escaped him as he realized the damage was nothing massive, gentle hands pulling away from her as she stirred.
"Thank you, God...Miss Kagumi, if you can hear me, I'm going to take you inside now, all ri-"
But then it happened, before he could say anything more - there was a shout from behind Mikami, full of rage, and the flash of a knife seen from the corner of his eye. There was no time to think, only time to react -
I'll prove myself again, God, just give me your righteous strength....
Then a sickly sound of blade sinking into flesh as the Prosecutor moved into the path of the strike, taking the knife in his upper back, near his shoulder. Dark brown eyes flew open wide, pupils contracting with agony - and his mouth opened even wider as an animal scream of pain erupted from deep in his throat.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGH-!" He had never been stabbed like this before - fistfights, burns, and shallow cuts, yes...but never a knife buried in his flesh this way. The pain was maddening, and an ugly desperation bubbled up inside him like the blood that was soaking through his shirt and vest.
Still kneeling beside Kagumi and screaming, he yanked his fountain pen from his vest, bringing it down hard behind him, aiming to drive the point through his attacker's Achilles tendon.

Joey did not expect this pain to shoot up his leg, but the sight of blood was one thing he didn't like despite what James had wanted him to see. All of that blood, it made the big lummox suddenly faint from blood loss and all around fright.
Kagumi had felt herself at peace while she was drifting, coming into consiousness. It felt nice, and the voice was now beckoning her, but even though she followed it willingly, she couldn't make it out.
Before she could realize it, it had stopped short, and the sounds of screams filled her ears. She was now on the surface, her stirs a little bit more audible, and her fingers in a slow flex. She had to wonder what that was. Then came a horrible sound that she knew all too well
Someone had been stabbed!
Her amber eyes snapped open in fear as warm blood dripped onto her shirt, but now that she was awake, she was much more aware. And the curdling scream she heard and the blood that was on her was...
"MIKAMI!"
He had moved to help, and now that she was awake she saw Joey on the ground passed out, the fountain pen in the back of his tennis shoe. Mikami was still over her in a protective slump. She sat up quickly, putting a hand on his chest to hold him up before he did anything to relax. Desperate tears streaming down her cheeks and she thought - not again! No it can't happen again!

"Aah...augh...."
The pain that coursed through his shoulder was exruciating, coaxing low moans from between gritted teeth. Slowly, his eyes slid back to see where his attacker was slumped over on the ground....
Then his name was called, and he looked forward again, pupils unable to maintain proper focus. Dimly, he realized that the blade was still sticking out of him...but he couldn't pull it out himself.
A very slow, sleepy smile crossed his face as he looked at Kagumi, his breath hitching when he tried to speak.
"...Oh, g-good...you're o-okay...." She would feel increased pressure against her hand where she had it placed against his chest - he was pitching forward a little bit. "...Didn't expect the - AGH - the coward to c-come back...."
His shirt and vest were soaked crimson now, the blood creeping along the green and white of his dress clothes from where the knife still protruded.

She was a pretty tan girl, but the feeling of coming back to that day made all of the color drain from her face and even a bit more when she felt him pitch forward slightly under her hand. " Mi...ka...mi." She said slowly through tears, "my god, why?"
She looked around and then looked over his shoulde, trying to find where the knife was without tipping him over. It was hard to do though, seeing as he was much larger than her, and she wasn't exactly strong. She was already struggling a bit to hold him up, but she had to find a way to help. She wasn't going to let it happen again.
" Don't you worry about him sir prosecutor, oh god," there was a lot more blood than she had expected, but she had to get it together, or else she'd lose him too. She blinked away the tears and found it gleaming proudly from his shoulder.
"Don't worry Mikami, I won't let you die!" She pressed her shoulders against his and with her now free hands, she gripped her hands on the handle and pulled it out carefully, trying to minimize the pain.

When she asked him why, Mikami's smile faded back to the one she would recognize a little bit more - a tiny quirk of the lips at the corners, though much shakier than normal. His voice went quieter still, quivering on each breath.
"I wanted to...protect you. Ngh - I...told you if you needed...needed help...to come here...didn't I...?" Unused to so much pain, he couldn't help but give a short groan, cutting off his speech. He was leaning on her more now, having a hard time supporting his own weight - it was all he could do not to let his head loll downward, to close his eyes and let himself blank out.
The wound wouldn't be life-threatening if the bleeding was taken care of...but his head was getting hazy from the sharp pangs wracking his flesh. Kagumi spoke, and he opened his mouth to reply -
Until she pulled the knife out, and all he could utter was a wordless scream, wrenching his eyes shut. A couple of tears squeezed their way out from between his eyelids, snaking down his stark-pale face and landing on Kagumi's shoulder.

It riddled her with guilt to know that he was trying to protect her, "I knew you would help, but I didn't expect..." She was at a sudden loss for words and she fell silent, she could keep him talking after the knife came out. Her mind thought about Megumi, you stupid sob...don't you see Kage, if I don't die tonight, you will, I love you too much to let that happen!
There was a look that went off in her amber eyes of determination, "I am not going to lose you too!" She said through her tears.
This made her pull harder, how deep did he make this? It was getting harder and harder to hold him up as he bit through the pain. But as she continued to try, the sounds of screams came from him that gave Kagumi a sad sick feeling, but she didn't give up even with the feel of warm tears on her shoulder, she could only reassure him, "it's...alright...its almost out!" Then with one final tug it wriggled free and she looked at the silver dripping with blood, the stench now strong and seeping into her shirt and she lightly set it aside, her breath shuddering with relief she held him back while she put a feeble hand on his shoulder as she took off her shirt revealing nothing but a bra and the couple of huge scars on her chest. She took the back of the shirt that wasn't covered in blood and pressed it on the wound, suddenly proving her motherly instincts when she put him back in his original position as she held it down and using her other hand to stroke the man's soft raven hair and lightly shushing him, " sssh it's alright it's out Mikami, it's out. You're gonna be fine shh." She needed to find someone with a phone to call 911 before anything got worse then what the image was right now. A grown man struggling and crying as a much smaller girl only a teen sat there tending to someone, she would do it but he needed her right now.

As much as Mikami would have liked to be steadfast and strong in this situation, the pain outweighed his will. His hands tensed up as he could feel the blade sliding from his flesh, his voice raised in more animal screams - so different from the calm calculation that usually permeated his voice.
Then the knife was out, and the screaming cut off, giving way to gasps and sobs. It took Mikami a minute to get his bearings again, eyes unsure whether to open or remain wrenched shut. Part of him realized he should be trying to keep them open, trying to stay conscious...but as righteous as he was, he was not superhuman. He was only a mortal...not an angel as Kagumi seemed to picture him.
There was no smile on his lips as they started to move, his voice barely audible - the man was choking on a little prayer. "...God...see to it that those vermin are deleted...please...I've done what I could...by your grace, let me live so that I may continue to help you...."
Soon enough, he realized there was pressure against his wound, and he became aware he was being held. Dark brown eyes slowly opened, his breathing heavy, beads of sweat running down over the cuts on his face. This hadn't been his only fight for rightousness in these last few days...but this one had done more damage than a few gashes around his nose.
"...Of course...I'll be fine...." He mustered the bravado he could, though his voice shook and his cheeks were covered in tears of pain. "...God protects the...the righteous....."
Mikami's screams hadn't gone unnoticed, of course - his co-workers had noticed the initial screaming and Mikami rushing out the door, so one of them had called the police...and now a man in a suit was cautiously edging into view, holding a can of mace.
He nearly dropped it when he saw the scene before him. "Oh, SH** - TERU!" His eyes flicked around, seeing the young man lying on the ground and paling when he noticed Mikami's favorite fountain pen sticking out of his ankle. The young woman pressing a now-bloody shirt to Mikami's wound didn't help him steady himself, either.
"What the hell happened!?"

Kagumi bit her lip desperately, her eyes closed holding back tears as she held him, hoping someone would come. She wasn't going to leave him, she didn't have a cell phone so she couldn't call anyone, she wasn't getting up and leaving him alone.
She could just barely hear his prayer though they were close enough where her ear was only inches from his mouth. "Don't talk like that Mikami, sir prosecutor you're going to live." She muttered to him through her sniffles, "don't you worry, I'm not going to let you die, God won't let you die." She held him tighter trying hard not to hyperventilate through all of this. Maybe if she tried to calm down he would too.
This was interrupted by the sound of another voice, her head lifted to look at the man through a curtain of hair, her amber eyes now ablaze, but she didn't move, she refused to move until the ambulance came.
" He...saved me..." She said through heaving breaths, "he took a knife for me..." Now she lifted her head up so he could see her full face, stained with tears and a bit of blood.
" Don't just stand there gawking!" She suddenly exclaimed to the man with a bit of athourity," don't let him die...call an ambulance!"
