now that all of the excitement had left, now there was only room for the ever evil feeling of boredom and stagnancy that seemed to lurk so much amongst the whammy house students. It was back now to the usual and boring routine, she finished all classwork and homework, putting it in a bag for much later, and now she was out in the playroom, back into the respective corner that she so cherished. the kids had once again asked for her to play, some of them whispering and laughing at her, (she knew full well why) then they had left her in silence to read the large velvety purple book from where she left off. she didnt mind it uch, no one else had stayed behind to her knowledge, so now she could read in peice. upside down star plus female symbl continue on with each symbol until you have reached it. the exact formula found in a journal of an alchemist whose nme remains currently Meow "Huh?" She looked from the top of her book and looked around, a little surprised at what she had done, there it goes again. she cautiously stood to her feet and looked around, folding up her book and putting it on the windowsill. there was light mewing hovering around the quiet playroom. but she didnt know where it was coming from. she stood still and listened, tying to guess, she looked at the door to the whammy house, a bit curious as to what it was, until finally it got to her, and she opened the door, walking into the cool air of the back where she first caught matt smoking. no one had ever gone in the back for anything, everyone went to the front, so it was even more obvious when she walked outside. There was a small black kitten caught in the bushes, cying out for help. Kagumi smiled, it was kinda cute. She bent over the bush, and with long delicate fingers, she pulled the kitten out of the bush, with only a couple of mews of pain. when she pulled it all out, she held it in her arms, " aww, its okay little one, it'll be allright, youre okay." she smiled at it, cooing it into a calm. it had a sratch or two on its paws, but it would be okay. she sighed and looked at the inside of the playroom, maybe she could nurse it a bit, it was in pain, it just needed some feeding and a bit of love. she looked at its neck, it had no tag, maybe if she was lucky she could keep it. She looked around a bit, then grinned, walking back into the playroom and quietly closing the door. she had some time with it if the kids had just gone out. the kitten squirmed a bit in her arms but enjoyed her company, " now what will i do with you?" ( piccy! kitty! its so adorable! )

"Stupid Ms. Elwood and her freakin' essays-"
Matt bitterly rambled on under his breath as he sat tensely in his somewhat messy room. He sat hunched over the small desk by his bed, chin resting on the free hand he wasn't rapidly writing with. Procrastination had took its toll once again, as the student attempted both starting and finishing a five page essay for his English class on the very day before it was due. So, rather than playing whatever game struck his fancy or going out girl watching, he was stuck here with a pencil in hand, struggling on a random body paragraph. Also, rather than blaming himself for a blatant misuse of judgment, he was blaming the woman who assigned this damn thing.
After about an hour of nonstop panic-induced work, Matt let the pencil slip out of his hand and his head rest limply on the desk. All he uttered for about a minute was a brief profanity as it felt as if his brain was preparing to implode. Then that was it. He needed a break, badly. The chronic slacker pulled himself from the seat and got a feel of just how cramped his legs really were. A groan escaped as he decided to get the blood moving again by wandering the halls aimlessly.
It seemed like a good idea until he got himself distracted again by a familiar face. Passing the playroom did nothing for his work ethic once he spotted Kage walking through the door. It hadn't been that long since they spoke last and he probably would've shrugged the situation off with a mere "Hey" or "Hello" or whatever, had it not been for what seemed to be a ball of fluff in her arms. A brow raised in curiosity. So much for that essay. Now he found himself approaching his fellow student to investigate.
Before he got close enough to feel the need to give a greeting, the thing had moved a tiny bit, but just enough for him to realize what it was. Surprised flashed in his eyes. A cat! Well, it was a kitten right now, but still. He couldn't help but smile a little at the thought. Matt just so happened to be a cat person. Something about their self-reliance and the fact that they eat rodents stroked him the right way.
"You find a new pet or something?" Matt began as he came close enough to get a better look.

She began to slink her hands in a small path as the kitten continued to adjust itself in her arms. It was a cute little thing despite the poor baby's injured hands. it was small furry and soft, its eyes were bright green, wide and young like a child should. it warmed her to play with it for a little bit, it seemed very thankful that she was here to help it, and it complimented her with soft mews and content purring. it only made the young girl even happier .
she held it up to where it could see her face and its little feet dangled as its eyes flashed at her. she chuckled with pure joy, it seemed more like her than she had expected. Usually cats did not like her that much, but this one was happy, and it made her smile. " cute little thing arent you?" she asked it with a giggle. with bright eyes it mewed and licked her hands. " that tickles!"
the sound of another person in the room surprised her, but she merely looked up from where she was. the brunette she was so used to seeing around was now here, looking a bit disheveleled. probably from the essay they had to write. Kagumi smirked. two days of dedication and she had finished the essay. the rest of the time she just read, it was that easy. it was due tomorrow meaning he was doing it probably now.
" I'm not sure yet...I found her in the thorn bushes outside, poor baby got caught in it." She looked at him, " think roger'll let me keep it?"
then sh set the kitten down, allowing it to walk around the playroom. it circled a toy chest nearby then walked over to Matt, looking up at him and mewing.

Matt watched with a momentary smile of amusement as Kage seemed to play with the kitten, all while being completely oblivious to his approach. It's only been a while since they've meant each other, so he'd have to say that this was the first time he'd seen her act this way. Funny what animals, especially the cute and fluffy kind, bring out in people. But she finally noticed him and casually began to speak.
The first instinct was to say that he doubted that Roger would let her, thanks to his own history with the man. However, he took the time to think for a brief second. "I don't know," he finally settled on. "The old man may be a stick in the mud, but I don't think it'd be a problem if you take care of it and such," He shrugged, a bit annoyed at the fact that for once he really didn't know what Roger would do. And to think he had him all figured out...
A meow stopped the boy's train of thought, forcing him break his attention from the person before him to the animal by his feet. The little thing provoked him to squat down low enough to its level and begin scratching behind its ear. As much as he preferred the fully grown, this one had a way of demanding attention.
"Even if Roger does say no though, you gonna keep it anyway?"

Kagumi smirked, she didn’t look surprised at all that Matt had no idea what his reaction would be, Roger tended to be very iffy about these things and it was no wonder. She giggled at the look of the kitten, who purred as she was being scratched behind the ears. Kagumi lied out next to it, their faces almost matching one another. He seemed frustrated that he didn’t know the reaction, but as kagumi would say, the more you know…
“ I hope he does,” she said with a grin on her face, “ the kitty’s just a little scared that’s all, and needs some love. Besides!” she lied out so that her face and the kittens face were next to one another, “ who could resist this face?”
all at once, the kitten seemed to have understood her words, the kitten looked up at Matt with big bright green eyes and mewed loudly, trying to make itself look as adorable as possible, maybe it wanted to stay? Kagumi looked up at matt, “ of course! I’m keeping this one no matter what, I just have to make it our little secret though.

As Kage spoke, Matt only looked over to her briefly as she lied down next to the kitten. Otherwise, his gaze was set on the little ball of black fur. A chuckle escaped him as it seemed to act on cue to what would probably soon be its master's words. It wasn't surprising that Kage seemed to have her heart set and keeping the kitten at all. His smile grew a bit when he heard that she was planning to keep it a secret from Roger if need be. "If that's the case, my lips are sealed," he responded, now flashing his gaze back to the girl for another moment. "But even if he does let you keep it, you'd better keep it away from the rest of the kids unless you want it to get smothered to death," Matt could only imagine what would happen if word got out that a tiny kitten was in Wammy's House. The uproar of attention resulting from that would probably end in one major headache for both Kage and the feline.

It was no wonder the 15 year old girl wanted to keep this little kitten, it was out here in the middle of nowhere by itself, not having anybody to help it and it was hurt. She wasn’t exactly going to let Roger deny the kitten food, shelter, and love when it needed it most. And the little kitten seemed like it was more than willing to listen to her, it was trying to make a deeper connection to her than she had ever expected. Kagumi turned on her back and began stroking the kitten under its chin.
“ that’s good, but your right, I might wanna be careful where I pull her out.” Maybe she could let her play when it’s just her, Mello, Near and Matt. They wouldn’t care if there was a cat running around, and even if mello didn’t like her, that’s what matt was for. So the kitten would get her playtime, just minus the stress, “ would mello or near freak out if they say her? You never know.”

Once Kage began stroking the kitten under the chin, Matt removed his own hand and simply watched and listened. Bringing up the subject of Near and Mello's reaction wasn't really something he expected, but he was able to find a few quick answers anyway. It was an incredibly easy subject for him to handle, seeing how he felt like he knew Mello like the back of his hand, and how he helped torture Near enough to know a bit about how he reacted to certain things.
"I know they'd want nothing to do with her, if that's what you mean," Matt responded. The idea he thought she might have wasn't a bad one. If anyone in Wammy's House was level headed enough to avoid overwhelming the kitten, it was definitely the four prodigies. The only question was though, would the top two tolerate it. "It might piss off Mello a bit with constant meowing and stuff, but he wouldn't really have a reason to be a problem. Even if he finds one, I know I can take care of it," As much as Matt didn't like to get in Mello's way, it was only a cat. He knew something so small wouldn't cause a big fuss, if any at all. "And you know how Near is. He might say something, but he won't do anything. He'd probably just ignore it. That is, unless, she decides to mess with his toys or something."

The kitten looked a little dissapointed that she wasnt being stroked anymore by Matt behind her ear, she liked being stroked, but Kagumi was allready stroking her lovingly under her chin, the kitten stretched out and purred. this was the life it liked.
Kagumi looked a bit surprised that he was shocked she was asking about Mello and Near, but Kage had expected it was the best time she could let the kitten out. It had plenty of space to play around and if she got too out of hand, she wouldnt cause too much damage around the room. She had expected those answers coming from matt, especially if she could remember her abilities clearly. Near had his tendencies, maybe the little cat would appeal, if not she could always play with her and Matt. She had feared a bit that shev would annoy Mello with playful mews and purring, but was relieved Matt would try to help, " thanks Matt."
" and thats true, but maybe if i get a ball from the toy chest or some thread, she'll be preoccupied and wont go near the two of them."

Matt stayed in his lowered position, both to make conversation easier, and to be within an arm's reach of the kitten in case the stroking mood struck him. In a glance to Kage, he could see that she was relieved to have his help with Mello. He couldn't really blame her, seeing how (As much as he was his best friend) he himself wouldn't really trust the guy with a baby animal. In fact, he really wouldn't trust him with anything that fit in the small and noisy category.
"Yeah, probably," he figured that a toy for the kitten would solve most problems. Still, it was hard to resist imagining the look on Near's face if, say, the curious kitten decided to mark something of his as hers. The rather nasty idea actually turned into something relevant. "Say, if you litter train it, what do you plan on doing about the smell? No one's going to appreciate that," That, and it would be a dead giveaway if she was trying to hide the thing from the other kids, let alone Roger if she said no. Still, it didn't bring too much worry. Any of the prodiies in Wammy's House could at least figure out how to hide a litter box.

He agreed with the toy idea and she smiled. It just meant that the worst part of it was resolved, as long as Mello didnt freak out and try to kill the poor litte thing. She was more than all right with accepting the responsibilities of a kitten, if anyone had a problem, they just had to deal with her about it. A kitten could not take on an angry kid, but if the situation arose she could take on Mello, at least now she had a bit of backup in the kitten's favour.
Oh that's right, there was the matter of litter training it. She looked outside, thinking about what she could do to hide it. "I'll find a way, i have plenty of places to hide it in my room and i could sneak out the window to clean it. I'll find a way." her hand slid out from under the kittens chin and she looked up to the ceiling fan continuing its slow rotation, " Its keeping the baby out of trouble I am worried about." she watched as the kitten scurried across the room, noticing the toy chest and trying to get in, its little legs kicking as it pulled up and jumped in to the mass of toys. She looked at Matt.
" what do we name her? I was so concerned with keeping her out of trouble I completely forgot."

Matt's eyes followed the kitten as it continued it's exploration of it's new home. As Kage responded that she'd find a way, he had a feeling it wouldn't be much of a problem at all. She was a prodigy after all. Something as seemingly mundane as a litter box wouldn't be much of an issue for any young genius. However, the kitten herself was probably going to be an issue for everyone. Until it got old enough to be happy just laying in the sun or on a lap, chances are that it would be a curious handful. The idea was proven as Matt watched her climb into the massive toy box
It was cute and all, but it needed a lot of stimulation, whether it be from one of the select few kids that were in the know about her, or from some random object that struck her fancy. But hey, unless it involved Mello's infamous temper, it wasn't really his problem. That was an idea the brunette liked. He got to experience the fun stuff of dealing with a cat, while Kage handled the rest. A smile crept to his lips, but he kept his mouth shut.
As Kage popped the what should have been expected question, Matt brought his green eyes back to her. He guessed that he had expected that she had all that jazz thought out already. Perhaps the hardest part of dealing with a pet is not the act of keeping it out of trouble, or taking care off it's messes, but is instead the act of naming the thing. It was something that Matt had a feeling that either of them didn't have much experience in. Now had it been entirely his choice, he probably would've taken the cliche/geeky way out. However, he had a feeling that Kage wouldn't be incredibly thrilled with a suggestion of "Epona" or "Zelda". "Buffy" was a cool name too, but again, the girl probably would not approve of naming it after a vampire slayer. But then again, it would be interesting to see how she reacts...
"Hmn... How do you feel about "Zelda"?" he added to it a dorky little grin. "Or "Buffy" maybe. That's a strong name,"

Kagumi wasnt surprised to watch the little kitten wander around so curiously looking at the lrge toys surrounding it, it was only a child anyway it wasnt as if it were some old fatcat who hated everything and everyone. That would only make her a handful for her and a nuisance to the only 2 people that will know of her existence besides Kagumi and Matt. At this point, at least one fight with Mello over the kitten was inevitable, but with Matt as support, at least it would soften the blow for the two of them. As long as things were kept that way, there should be no bad happenings on her part.
When she saw the smile on his face, Kagumi looked over to the kitten, It must have been so easy for him; All Matt had to do was help her play with it, Keep his mouth shut about it and protect the kitten from Mello's wrath. Kage not only had to do that, but also had to handle the responsibility of keeping her and helping hide her from the other kids and the administrators. It wasnt going to be an easy task at all, but she felt it was worth it in the end.
But it still needed a name, and that for some strange reason was the hardest part for her contrary to popular belief. Kage was good with names for herself but she switched so constantly, this one was going to be the kittens permanent name, so it had to be good.
With the name suggestions she snapped from her thoughts and laughed at his dorky grin, " you are such a nerd." she said playfully, of course she meant the good kind of nerd, even though she had never met the bad kind.

Matt immediately laughed back at her reaction as if he saw it coming. He had a feeling that that would happen. Even though he actually did kind of fancy the name "Buffy", he kept his mouth shut with a smile. "What? You don't like it?" he whined humorously. "I tried," he finished with a shrug.
"But really," he began, wiping the silly look off his face, but retaining an amused smile. "I'm no good with names. Isn't it supposed to be the owner's full decision to make herself anyways?" He'd help, comment, and approve, but as creative as he was, permanent names were not his forte, especially for fluffy, baby animals.
There were a lot of options to search through. Kage could pick the cute route and give it some classic kitty name, or base it on appearance. Or maybe with the two of them being highly educated and all, they would take the less traveled literary or political route. It was possible, seeing as it had been done before. But again, it wasn't his choice entirely. He was content letting Kage do all the grunt work.
(OOC: Ugh, this post is short and ugly.)

It had been forever since Kagumi had a good laugh with anybody besides Megumi. This was very entertaining to be in and anybody could say so, Kagumi inhaled and flashed Matt an authentic smile, "We can make up an entire essay at the drop of a hat, but we can't name a kitten." Kagumi had to think, "we can't give her a classic name, I didn't find her that way. And this one doesent seem like a buffy..." She flashed him a look, "well, you agreed with the responsibility of keeping a secret, technically also making you partly owner, so you have to help." She stuck out her bottom lip and let it quiver, " please?" She knew he had a soft spot, but she didn't garuntee it would work.it helped a great deal she was so observant of peoples actions.
