Staring up at the house she pulled up her luggage over her shoulder. Naturally it only consisted of a small suitcase, her jacket, and a hat to hide her appearance. Smiling weakly Kaori had to laugh at the rain that poured down on her as she trudged towards the door. It seemed like only yesterday did she leave this place for good to start a name for herself, now she was back once more, only this time to visit the children of the house.
It had only been two years since she had arrived but she knew that her presence was needed since it had been so long since her last visit and unlike L she wanted to make time for them. Not that she ever spoke much to him. Dressed warmly for the Fall breeze Kaori smiled as she marched forward her shoes clipping and catching at all the rocks along the gravel road. Mello, Near, Watari, I wonder if they are well. thought the profiler as she shook her wet hair that seemed to cling to her face.
Staring at the walls of the house things seemed to have remained the same while she continued to make her way now along the cement sidewalk. Toys were scattered across the yard as Kaori had to hide the smirk growing within her, she too remembered a time when those toys lying around were once her own, however she always brought them back in for fear of losing them or breaking them. Then again Kaori never went outside much at all when she was younger.
She enjoyed the solitude of the library or the peace of the commons when all the other children were out playing their games and causing commotion. Instead of being one of them she prefered to remain isolated and concentrate on her work, however there were always a few who dared to interupt her. She gently sighed and shook her head as she continued to think of the past, how she would always compete with L for a spot on top of the class and how everytime she always failed. Laughing she continued to scower the yard and eventually came to the white imposing doors. When she was younger it was hard to go up to them for fear of them flattening her but she hadn't changed much in height, they still made her feel intimidated.
Knocking on the door she waited outside, Watari didn't even know she was returning so whom ever answered the door was in for a hell of a surprise. Setting down her things she began to pull out a chocolate mint from her pocket. I wonder what everyone is doing? I hope they're all okay. she thought to herself while unwrapping the piece of candy. Once again she was in detective mode as her thoughts travled back to the Kira Case but she quickly pushed her thoughts and suspicions away, right now the kids were going to come first. Ah well, no matter, I'm certain they're all doing well enough. she thought but alas, it would remain a mystery till she entered.
Wondering what was taking so long she banged on the door again and yet she waited patiently for an answer. Suddenly a light smile played on her lips and it would have shocked anyone whom opened the door as she finally spoke. "I hope they have cake ready for me." her voice was light and joyful, almost as if she was glad to be home, yet if you never knew her it would be difficult to tell if she was serious or joking but if you did, you would know that she was actually quite serious. Rasing her hand once more she prepared himself to knock on the door.
