“Unthinkable, Unexpected, but at the same time, undeniable.”
That was the only thing that had come out of Kagumi Michiyo’s mouth since she walked the grassy patches in the streets of the university. She had no reason to be out at the moment. Just to let herself go for a minute. Her head was cloudy, and was out of tune with the rest of her body except for her feet. The more thinks she thought at one time, the faster she walked, and the more she walked, the more her mind kept throwing ideas and images into her head. Megumi’s bright grey eyes turning to nothingness as blood ran down her dress. Her fathers glasses in ruins as the robbers struck him across the face then dragged him out of the room to his inevitable death. Kagumi shook her head then adjusted the golden moon rimmed glasses she threw on; she knew she couldn’t think too much, she would get dizzy.
The heavy metal blasting in her ears numbed the confusion that seemed to keep her on edge, it quickened the heartbeat (which would probably not help her at all) and focused her as it always did.
Stapled shut, inside an outside world and I'm
Sealed in tight, bizarre but right at home
Claustrophobic, closing in and I'm
Catastrophic, not again
I'm smeared across the page, and doused in gasoline
I wear you like a stain, yet I'm the one who's obscene
Catch me up on all your sordid little insurrections,
I've got no time to lose, and I'm just caught up in all the cattle
Her baggy pants were slipping under her feet, tangling the sandals so that she might trip in the loose gravel below by the double door entrance to the building. Her mind made her think of love. How it made her so reckless, and how cruel it is to those around her. She thought about the Kira case, and how many lives were put into turmoil and could be in any danger. She was asking herself why she was so drawn to the case. She wandered back to those days at Whammy House after Megumi’s death. She hardly talked, and when she was in public she was always fiddling quietly with a rubicks cube or twirling a pen between her long fingers. She knew everyone’s names, but they never really knew hers, those in Whammy house only knew her as Kage. Kagumi had always straddled the fence about cases such as these, only because of those outcomes, and she wondered about her denial.
“No…”
She shook her head. She wasn’t ready to do anything at that age, she was far too into other things to worry about it. Mello and Near had been better for the job. Her heart gave a wrenching thump and Kagumi stopped in her tracks, clutching her chest and giving a slow inhale. She had walked too fast, she needed rest, but at the same time she had to keep walking and keep thinking or else it’ll all go away.
My end
It justifies my means
All I ever do is delay
My every attempt to evade
The end of the road and my end
It justifies my means
All I ever do is delay
My every attempt to evade
THE END OF THE ROAD!
Kagumi scratched the wavy white wig that now hugged her head and she could feel her realization come to light. If she felt the way she did, why was she hiding. Did she fear a kira to find her? Or was her fear that someone at whammy house would recognize her. “ though I was a wallflower.” She said with a bitter chuckle. “ they didn’t give a d**n about me.” She felt confused again. What was she thinking?
Her jeans caught on her sandals and Kagumi turned on her heel towards the row of bushes down the way, landing on her side after realizing she just tripped. She got to her feet and touched her head. Her hair hadn’t fallen off, but she felt it better to sit. So she crawled tiredly into the bushes leaning against the wall and sliding down to her knees next to a cardboard box leaning on the bench. Her head on the wall with her eyes closed.
