The Meeting (Kagumi Michiyo)

Kin almost grimaced when he reached the hotel that the group had decided to meet in. Normally, they each led their own investigation so that it would continue even if one of the leaders died. But, every few weeks, they would get together to discuss current events or how their investigations were going. To keep their presence unknown, they usually had to meet in dumps. This time was no exception. But, if the owners didn't ask questions and gave you the privacy, that was all they could ask for.

He already knew where the meeting was in the hotel, but to keep his appearance from suspicion he did not immediately head to where the meeting was. Not to mention, he suspected that Kagumi, if that was her correct name for he couldn't quite remember, needed to catch up. When he was shown to the correct room, he knocked two times, followed by another short rap five seconds later. With that the door was unlocked and he was allowed entrance. Now all they had to do was wait for the girl to catch up. But, if the other members found his prize worthwhile, the wait would be well called for. And, if they didn't like her, then that was there problem.

Kagumi had followed nearly ten feet behind him from Aoyama to the hotel, which she thought it would prove futile and she wouldn't make it, but somehow she made it. She follwed him swiftly to the hotel and made it to the correct room where the meeting was to take place.

There was still a hint of doubt in the back of her mind whether bto trust him or not, but ksgumi tried hard to ignore ut to the best of her abilities. At the approach of the entrance she gasped for breath and continued to have a grip on her sunhat, her face nothing but a shadow under it.

"Sorry if I kept you waiting mr" she said to kin through smooth calming breaths" you left so quickly"

"Oh, don't worry about it. I am already much more late to the meeting, so I highly doubt one more tardy would truly matter. I suppose that you need an introduction so here goes nothing," Kin said with a slight grin," The reason for me being late today was the fact that I was trying to win over this one's loyalties. She doesn't look like much, but she is from the Whammy house. Not only this, but she also seems to have a talent for memorization. Just picture her as a human recorder. No insult intended miss, but it would help them understand your potential better in this view. Now, I will introduce the leaders of our movement. Obviously, there is me, Kin Marr. I lead the political spheres of our organazation. I guess I will let the other members introduce themselves."

With that statement, Kin turned towards the closest member to him. The man was rather portly and had the look of a shark to him. His toothy grin continued the impression as well as his sharp protruding eyes. He currently wore a tight-fitting business suit. His hair was a light grey and was held back with what looked like a pile of gel. He currently had a map of Tokyo pulled out in front of him, but looked up long enough to give himself a small intoduction.

"I am Daj Fioug. I lead the departments of money in this organazation and choose what to spend on and how to spend it. Basically, you come to me if you have any trouble with money," with that finished, he quickly returned to studying the map.

The third member of the meeting was a bony woman. She had a very pale complexion and almost gave the impression of a skeleton. Even so, she had the look of strictness on her features and someone you would not want to get a lecture from. She almost had a look of distaste on her face when she looked to the girl to introduce herself. Her introduction was short and to the point, but anything but sweet.

"I am Elena Roseta, leader of the branches of disipilne and interogation. Simply put, you do not want to have a personal meeting with me."

The final and fourth member present at the meeting was a rather young boy. Even so, he had a look of intellegence and coolness to him that was only matched by very few. He had rather unkept black hair and donned a simple suit with the emblem of the organazation on it. He currently was staring attentely at the labtop and did not even bother to look up to introduce himself.

"You may call me Zet if you wish. I am the military leader of this organazation and currently squad leader for a lack of military due to our hiding. After the sad death of our espionage leader, I have also been granted that responsobillity. For now, that is all you need to know."

With the final introduction finished, Kin looked back to Kagumi to show that she should say something to the welcoming she got. While it may have seemed rather rude, it was quite a good level from those specific members. As if he expected her to know that he waited patiently for her to make whatever speech she saw fit. Of course, if she didn't find anything quite right, he could always just continue on with the meeting. If only if only.

Kagumi's amber eyes fell from one executive to another in order ad the songs lyrics kept into her mind, " Daj Fioug, treasurer, elena roseta, interrogation chief,Zet, commanderv in chief of armed forces." She said these softly but clearly and looked up to kin, who was ready for her to introduce herself. She took a deep breath before speaking to them.

" I am Zoey, My father worked as a prestigious inventorb before he died, that's why I have a music player, he made it before he died. I am s resident at whammy house, I don't know much more to say...I was only deemed to have photographic memory by remembering a 500 number sequence with my music ijstead of without, without I could only remember 100." Knowing nothing left to tell, dhe dtood patiently waiting for someone to tell her something, her smile was faint, but her spirits were reserved, especially knowing she should be intomidatwd but she. Wasn't.

He was glad that she had kept her cool during her own introduction. Not only that, but she had kept enough to herself that the others wouldn't know enough to kill her if they really were Kira. Not to mention, she seemed as if she had no intimidation from such larger powers then her. He had been quite right to choose her after all.

"Well, now that the formalities are out of the way, I think we can continue our meeting. I think that are first topic of business should be the general matter of Kira. Then we can address the topic of L. But, back to the topic of Kira. I believe that are information about the death gods are correct or so it seems from recent reports. Do we have any other news worth reporting at this time?"

"No sir," the other members said in unison. He wasn't surprised by that fact considering their fields, but sometimes he wished they would know something.

"Do you have anything to say in the manner Zoey," Kin asked using her alias so that she could keep whatever game she had going for it was far more entertaining that way.

Kagumi had spent this time crouched on the chair given, fiddling with her music player to switch to Handel. She looked to kin as the music flowed through her ears.

"Well..." She began."Based on what I know prior about shinigami, they all have certain foods they are affectionate for, just like cigarrettes to us, the problem is finding out what kind they like. The recent kirs shinigami in the case of this investigation had a taste for apples, but there mudyt be more than one shinigami roaming earth at the moment" she sitched her gaze to kin "am I wrong?"

"Far from it my dear. I have already come to the conclusion that there is at least two shinigami, as you called them, on this Earth currently. Other then that though they seem to prove very good at hiding or at least they cannot be seen by humans. I am not quite sure about which it is yet but I am positive it is one of those options. Other then that I cannot really say much more. I still do not even see why there are supporters for Kira, but we must keep this in mind for later. But for now, we should move to the topic of L. He continues to be headstrong in his investigation on Kira but he has not gotten much ahead of our conclusions. I think that Zoey's opinions on the matter could help this concept of the case. Would you," he said again letting Zoey have some responsibility.

Kagumi tipped her head to the side, she was amazed at how much he we trying to help her make a good impression. Still in a tiger-like crouch, she put her hands on her knees and let the notes of beethoven fill her ears. " Based on what I know, the people have been narrowed down significantly." She held up a hand," firstly, the culprit is of japanese origin, seeing as do far only japanese criminals have been persecuted. He hasd acess to police files and maybe even l himself if he is matching him so closely by moves, narrowing it down toi the 5 in the kira task force, that is what I know without investigation."

"Well, that is very insightful indeed. That is more information then we have after months of espionage against him. I guess you really had some sort of his trust to know so much about an important investigation. I suppose that you wouldn't know any of the five suspects since that would be classified. But, if you do you can inform me of this at another time. For now we need to go into the specifics of the organization and its doings. I suppose we will just start with financial problems. What are these?"

"Well sir," Daj replied," currently we only have the same. Not enough of that here. Too much there, et cetera, et cetera. Nothing to really waste our time for."

"I see, and what of the current interrogation Elena," Kin said moving onto the next topic.

"We have broken all but one of the agents. So far most of the information has been aligned with what we have learned. We have disposed of anyone that faulted our information in the past. We have also done the same with members of the investigation so nothing can be leaked. Is that satisfactory sir," she replied with such an edge of coolness that there could be no doubt for error.

"And finally we come to the fact of our espionage and infiltration units, Zet," he said turning his full attention to the boy.

"Well, we have recovered the documents you requested," Zet said allowing himself to look up off of the screen for a few seconds to recognize Kin's authority. He then quickly returned his attention to the screen saying," They do contain what we hoped for and guarantee the existence of the Shinigami as well as the currently known one."

"Do you have anything to say to these results Zoey," Kin asked recognizing that Zet was finished with his statement.

"As a matter of fact," Kagumi added quickly as everyone did their rounds," mister zet, do youb know the names of these shinigami yet? Can you connect any one of them to their owners? Any oparticular food they are affectionate to? Anything liie that? It might help to catch the shinigami, they are all probably neutral anyway, so find a way to get in touch with the shinigami, you have your chance."

Kagumi had felt very proud with how fast she was able to jump on this, though inside it felt like her giving an oral report at bpschool, it frightened her, but she didn't want them to sdee her sweat

Zet rose an eyebrow to Kagumi's questions. He hadn't expected her to be so forward in such a secret matter. Especially when he had not even completely trusted her yet. He definetely saw why Kin of all people had chosen this one. He always seemed to love people like her. Well, he supposed that it couldn't hurt for her to know some of what they had learned. Especially if she could memorize it all so they would not have to risk keeping the documents.

"Here, just take the documents, they have the answers to most of your questions that we have been able to compile so far. I just ask you to burn them when you are finished please," Zet said while passing over the documents not even waiting for a reply before he continued his work.

She was surprised how quickly she convinced Zet of anything. She could see the obvious mistrust for her in his eyes and that took her aback for a sewcond when he gave her the documents. In a split second she was opening the files one by one reading everything compiled so far, "ryuk..." She mumbled to herself ad she continued to scan over everything like a computer.with her in here the tension was obvious, they didn't like hern and it might takev time for them to adjustn "apples and vucumbers..."

"Well now that thats over with, I think I can fairly call this meeting to a close. I hope you see the same potential as me in this wonderful girl. Once she has those memorized we will be able to dispose of the evidence and use her as a moving and breathing document. Now, I wish you all farewell, for I have other matters to attend to with my decoy. I hope you appreciate her gifts and I wish you all luck in your doings."

With that, Kin quickly strolled out of the cramped hotel room and went out into the fresh air of the night. Now all he had left to do was fet a task force together and everything that went with it before tommorow. He supposed that it was all in a day's work. If only the day's were a tad bit longer though so he could actually get some sleep. But, it was all for the organazation and worth it never-the-less. Or, at least that is what he hoped.

When Kagumi jad read the last of the documents, everything had fallen into place for her and she remembered everything from the two mysterious shinigami lying aroundv to the party attempt to bribe a kira supporter, maybe even kira himself. She needed to see if she could get closer to the suspect, if she compiles enough from his words than she would have enough to confirmv her suspicions. Though the mintute she looked up, kin had already walked out of the room, without a second thought she stuffed the documents into her bag and followed him, "mr kin! Before I go back home I hasve to ask" she was allready still exhausted," where is this suspect?" Her theory about the shinigami was still fresh in her mind as she gasped for breath.

"Well, firstly you can stop calling me 'Mr. Kin'. Just call me Kin. I never liked those types of formalities anyways. You are quite the curious one I see. Well, to the best of my knowledge, we still have men tracking him down. He couldn't have gone far from the campus which leaves the rest of Tokyo or so. I suspect we should be able to keep tabs on him again in a few days at the most. I am afraid that if you wanted to know anything more then that, you would have to ask Zet for that is his department. I guess I will see you sometime in the future, eh?"

Of course, he had been completely lying when he told her he really didn't know where this suspect was, but he needed to test her ability of espionage anyways. Either that or she would annoy Zet so much that he would just tell her. For some reason, Kin highly doubted that Zet would do that. By all he could tell Zet still mistrusted her and would never give her such classified. Too bad for her then. He suposed that was just how life was.
