Dark alleyways. The creepiest parts of a city, especially at night. Anything could happen in one and no one would probably know. Moonlight poured down into the dark alley, providing near useless light for those who couldn't see at night. If anyone looked close enough, they could see the faint outline of a figure settled against the dark wall of the dark alley. And if anyone heard anyone, they could hear a noise coming from that figure whose shoulders only moved up and down from breathing. A sound that was...soft snoring?
Beige was this figure. A simple lone girl who had by chance fallen asleep in an alley late at night while heading back to her apartment. At this point, anything could happen to her, despite the fact that she had her taser in her back pocket and could always pull it out and stun someone. But, anything could happen now.

Yes, it was true, the only place you probably wouldn't want to find yourself at night would be an alleyway. Well, that was only if you couldn't handle yourself to begin with. The natural rays from the moon provided, if any, light for the dark alleyway. With one lone silhouette against a wall, and a muffled sound coming from the figure. It wasn't his plan to be wondering around at night through alleyways, but this figure had caught his attention. It could have been just a bum trying to find themselves a safe place to sleep for the night, but it was just something inside him that told him otherwise.
Quiet sounding footsteps echoed off the close walls of the alleyway, with green orbs scanning every last bit of the surrounding area for any other sign of life. With both of his hands resting in his jacket pockets, fingertips resting along a bar of chocolate perfection, when was the sweet-tooth found without one? He stopped moving a few feet away from the figure, staring stupidly at the girl. Had she really fallen asleep in this alleyway? He extended his right leg tapping the girl with the end of his boot in an attempt to wake her up with out her flipping out or something.
People these days...

Immediately, the girl's eyes opened at the feeling of something tapping against her, but she didn't jump or anything. All Beige did was stay in the slumped position she was before yawning and stretching as if she had just woken up in the morning. She stared at the boot that had tapped her then followed up the boot, up the body of the presence before her and locked her dark brown eyes with his green eyes.
Beige only blinked again before pushing herself up, staggering a bit, and rubbed her eyes before she looked up at the boy before her. Then Beige stood up straight and asked "Was I sleeping right here?"
As stupid of a question as that seemed, Beige couldn't help but ask since she had a dream about walking in pitch black.

Was this girl honestly just sleeping here? Or was this some kind of weird joke.. His face still held the same look as before, the kind of look that says 'are you serious?' But even though she did ask a stupid question the question still deserved an answer. A slight roll of his eyes, and his lips parted a bit.
"What do you think?" His words came out with an irritated tone. At least he got his answer, she had not been a homeless person looking for somewhere to sleep...She was just sleeping. Or at least that is what he thought, she didn't look homeless anyway.
He turned away from her facing back to the street, this all seemed pointless and a waste of time to be talking to this girl who couldn't tell she was sleeping in an alley. A grumbled sigh came from him, and he started to walk away from her.

Beige blinked. Well that was kind of rude...but if I fell asleep, that means I could fall asleep again and I can't exactly defend myself if I'm sound asleep. Might as well follow this guy around. Besides, it's a lovely night out, and I don't want to go home yet, Beige thought.
Beige followed the person in front of her from a safe distance, matching her footsteps with his-mostly just to kind of tease him. He probably already knew that she was following him and in case this guy got too irritated with Beige, the 18-year old had a taser in her back pocket she pull out any time with ease. The moonlight glinted off of Beige's silver hair clips as she followed on...

While walking he could hear another set of footsteps trying to match his own. Boots clicking to an immaculate halt a few feet away from the exit of the alleyway. Both hands now free from his pockets, lazily hanging at his sides. He didn't have to turn to see who it was, he had already assumed it was that girl he had only seen moments before. Why did she want to follow him? Ugh, This.. Girl.. was not only odd, but insanely annoying.
Mello would have to bite his tongue on this one for the sake of sounding abrupt. He was still standing with his back facing her, with eyes hidden behind eyelids. "Why are you following me?" That was nice enough, right? He had no qualms with this girl anyway, so thats about as nice as he could get with a random stranger. His head turned so he could see her, green eyes narrowed. He had an unfriendly nature about him.Although he would come off unfriendly, he wouldn't be the kind of person that would kill you with out a reason, despite what kind of occupation he has.
Only seconds passed, and he didn't really give her enough time to answer that kind of question, so he added an Impatient "Well?"

Once the boy asked Beige a question, she nearly bumped right into him. She had to pay more attention than that, she knew better. "Why am I following you? For my sake. Apparently, since none of my medications worked, I could fall asleep anytime again and I’m practically useless when asleep.” Beige paused to put her hands in her pockets, trying to choose the best wording for what she about to say next. “ I hope you realize that I’m not saying to protect me. That I can do myself. Just not in my sleep.”
Beige stepped back. She wondered if paranoia had leaked into her calm voice because she wasn’t paying any attention to how she sounded. The girl flipped her hair back without much effort watching the boy’s movements carefully with her brown eyes. This guy wasn’t exactly what anyone would call ‘friendly’, apparently.

He turned around now, fully facing her. So, did this mean she was a narcoleptic? Mello was far to accustomed to meeting strange people at night, but never one that had been asleep on him. He stood there for a moment staring at her. " So, your a narcoleptic?" If this was true, and if this is what she needed her medicine for then she was only dead weight to him.
He shoved his right hand into his pocket, fingertips idly tracing the bar on chocolate before he pulled it out, gnawing on the wrapper before taking it off. "Technically." He still had that irritated tone with him. "If you can't protect yourself in your sleep, and you are following me because of it... Then you are asking for some form of protection." With that said he bit the side of his chocolate bar.

Beige blinked is response to the question he asked. She really didn't feel like answering that question. Plus something told her that it probably wasn't a question meant to be answered. Instead, Beige dug into her pocket and found a peppermint in there, surprisingly enough. She played wrapper on the peppermint a bit while listening to the boy in front of her's words closely.
"Technically, if you can't protect yourself in your sleep, and you are following me because of it... Then you are asking for some form of protection."
"Well, when you put it like that...well then I guess you are protecting me in that sense," Beige breathed. Compared to stranger's tone, Beige's voice calm and relaxed with still a little sleepiness in it. "But what I'm asking for still shouldn't be much. My case is very mild so I shouldn't fall asleep too much if you thought I was just going to end up being extra weight."
Beige finally unwrapped the red and white minty candy and popped it in her mouth.

Mello had a feeling that his calculations were right on what she had. Green orbs followed her movements, watching her bring out a piece of candy. His nose scrunched when she opened the peppermint candy, the smell was always so strong and he had never been to fond of it.. But it always beat the off smell of the alleyway.
His eyes trailed from her hands back up to her face, staring for a moment a loss for words. He looked like a zombie while staring at her, the piece of chocolate still in his mouth being eating as if it were gum. His mannerisms weren't the best, chewing with his mouth open.. And he could come off quite rude.
"So." He was still chewing. "What your saying." Then finally a swallow of the sweet perfection. "Is you want me to watch over you?" A small noise came from his throat that formed into a small laugh. "Tch, you would put yourself in the hands of a stranger?" He turned away from her this time and started walking back to the exit of the alleyway.

Beige gazed right back at the boy, more or less her brown eyes staring right at his for a moment. Then she turned her gaze away and allow the round circular candy melt in her mouth. No manners at all.... Beige stifled a sigh as the peppermint slowly became smaller and smaller.
She looked back up at the stranger, pausing at the question to allow her peppermint become much more smaller so she could talk properly. "Wouldn't have been the first time I had to be left in the hands of stranger."
It really wouldn't have. Beige had to stay with her neighbors until she was adopted in by her Uncle. And she barely knew her Uncle.

He didn't necessarily stop walking towards the exit from the alleyway, only slowed his pace. One hand held on to the chocolate bar, and the other hung limply at his side. His thumb started to move around in that spot, squishing part of the melted chocolate. After she had stopped talking he had finally stopped walking... It was like playing a game of Green light, red light.
Turning around once again almost in a dejavu fashion. This girl in front of the blond could almost be compared to a dog-- Wait scratch that could be compared to a dog, following a stranger that she had just met from an alleyway out of all places. Even though he was younger she shouldn't be just following random people that she meets on the streets. Crunch. Another bite from his candybar while he gave her the same dumbfounded, zombie like stare.
"Do you really lack self defense so much that you have to follow me like an annoying dog?" It seemed he had been lacking something at that moment, social skills. But how could one be nice to a stranger that had fallen asleep in an alleyway, then expected you to babysit after them. It didn't seem that much of a burden to her as it did to him, I mean she didn't necessarily say that he had to watch after her, or babysit her.
His weight shifted from his right leg to his left, seemingly getting more annoyed by the second.

Beige was right behind the rude stranger when she heard his question. Her expression was relaxed, though she was building up some irritation and annoyance as well. In one fluid motion, Beige pulled out her taser and allowed the tip to touch his hip. It felt so cold to Beige due to her rarely using it. Which meant that she could turn it on anytime now.
"I'm not completely defenseless. And don't ever compare me to a dog. Ever.," Beige answered. Her tone wasn't just calm and relaxed now; it was also cold. She knew her little taser might not be able to back up any threat-though she never made one to begin with- since all it could do was stun people. But there have been incidents when she's killed a person or two with the thing while trying to defend herself.
(Excuse me if the post is weird and not like Beige...She's ticked. XD That and I had a hard time choosing where to put the taser. ee; )

His green eyes glanced down at something that had poked him in his hip.. Odd. It seemed to be a taser, a small interest had sparked in him and he wondered if this girl even knew how to use it, It wouldn't surprise him if she didn't. To him she seemed to be lacking leadership skills, so how was she supposed to act on her own, and think about the hefty consequences with her being referred to as a dog in his mind. Eyes moved from the taser to her staring at her eye to eye, them being only a few inches apart.
"So, this dog has new tricks?" A smile tugged at the corner of his lips, and a glint of something unfriendly was shown in his eyes. He didn't move away from her, or the weapon that she had held against his hip. Surely he would get shocked anytime soon for his last remark, or maybe she had gotten to afraid to act?
His weight shifted once more from left to his right. He wasn't a very patient person, and dealing with her brought back the same memories of dealing with that twit Near.. But for this one he could be claimed superior , or at least that is what he thought of himself as, number one over everyone who he had met... Disincluding the few L, Near... But for that there would be a new day, and he would claim his title back.
His attention was brought back to her, and away from the thoughts of his mind as he waiting her her next action. Like her he also came prepared, holding a gun in the front of his pants.. More of a threat to those he came across, Although if time came to he would use it.

Beige narrowed her eyes and moved her thumb so that it was exactly on the button. Just when she was about to apply pressure to shock this guy to no end, a voice in the back of her head told her something. The voice of paranoia, doubt, and precaution.
Don't do it, Beige! Don't do it! You're going to get in trouble! You're going to regret it! Don't press that button!
How annoying...what did this guy have that was setting her paranoia button off, a gun or something? Sighing, Beige let the hand that held the taser fall to her side. She couldn’t be rash about this. She had to think calmly…though it would be nice to be a little rash…but yet she never put the taser away. Maybe Beige was planning on using it anyway...?
Then, the stranger made a remark that ultimately, angered her. In that calm sense. Beige brought her taser back up, poked it at the guy's hip, and pressed the button that would send so many volts through his body.
