With the sound of Matt's reply Kagumi gave a nod of agreement. Roger was a bit annoyed by her distance, he had a thing with the 4 heirs offbeat line of thinking and rash behavoir. This was one of the main things that set the 4 of them apart from the other residents; while the 4 of them were worked to the bone, the rest were treated like kings and queens, pampered and preened until the unfortunate event that one of the 4 dies, then they will find someone to take their place.
A smirk formed on the Samoan girl's face with Amex's sudden reaction, but that straightened out quickly with the sounds of her sudden dismay. something she had expected from a mile away, the feel of whammy house kids, especially the higher ups, could aways be mistaken for rudeness. She was completely used to it though, in fact, the calling of the two of them rude did not seem to affect her at all.
" My dear this is not paranoia," she said calmly, her face still emotionless but her ambner eyes glittering with obvious amusement, " But just the way we are, the way we were taught and raised. You may not find anything wrong with your actions, but we were taught to think differently. Think," she hadnt had to say that to anyone in a long time, " You sat in a tree, evesdropping on a conversation, then decide that we were reliable people based on that, walked on to private premisis, only give us your name and ask us to give you support to ask the adults if you can stay," Her amber eyes flashed, " We know nothing about you, and i dont know about you but I tend to know more than people's names when I go off to make a descision to help. but if you dont feel us worthy of knowing more than that then by all means dear go and ask anyone else, just know that if you have a problem with our atttudes then it would do you no good to go to any of the other students, we are the nice ones. If you went to anyone else they would surely be a lot 'meaner' than what you think we are. We arent exactly an ordinary orphanage dear," did she even know what orphanage this was?

As Matt watched Amex's expression change, his didn't at all. All while she fidgeted, glanced, and flushed, he kept his detached, yet curious gaze in place. It was clear that Kage's comments coupled with his had deflated what was optimism. If she was really trying to pull something, would her reaction consist of a somewhat childish thing such as a blush? The red on her cheeks didn't seem to match the stereotype of deceit. The awkward silence from Matt after she wrapped up her rant was devoted to thought. How big exactly was the risk behind her?
Kage opened her mouth before Matt had a chance. Her own words wrapped up every thought to be addressed. Matt found nothing to add most of the way through, and found himself simply nodding in agreement.
"Yeah. You labeled us as different. Well, different is right, but don't make it perfect" Matt said with a sly smile to lighten the tension at least a little. 'Don't assume. You oughta know the phrase. But really, if you took the time to analyze us as worthwhile, shouldn't we be the least bit uncomfortable?" It took him a second to realize that he had just condensed what kage had said. His smile disappeared again. He could use a smoke right now. "Relax. We bark, but we only bite if we have to. Well, I do. I don't know about her," he motioned over to Kage.
After the brief session of thought, Matt figured that chasing her to someone else might be a bad idea. First of all, if she wasn't any trouble, the usually bored boy would've lost a good source of amusement for a while. More importantly though, if she was trouble, would any other orphan bother to think about it? Matt was third after all, and Kage seemed capable enough. The only people who seemed brighter than the two of them were Mello and Near, and anyone could tell you she wasn't going to get a warm welcome from either of them. Simple precaution mixed with Matt's personal intrigue was something he was known for.

She smiled as her eyes met with Kage’s identical ones. The short blond girl listened to everything she said and nodded actually agreeing with her. It was true that she had been raised differently, and this behavior was new to her, she had obviously figured out that this wasn’t any ordinary orphanage by that time. She thought about what she had said before and just now realized that, up until now, she was only thinking of herself and what she would do. Considering the way she had tough herself, she owed them an apology and she should try to act as mature as she was and not give into those emotional outbursts like she just did.
The blush faded from the young girl’s face as she casually apologized to both of them for her early childish behavior ‘Um…yes I see that now, I’m sorry.’ She said in a calm manner, she was calm for the first time in awhile, maybe she just needed to let it out? ’It’s true you are very differently raised, I had to teach myself how to behave, after all, I’m sorry if this makes you uncomfortable too.’ She added meeting Matt’s hazel gaze for the first time, ‘I acted childishly and only thought of myself…and I didn’t even stop to conceder how you two must feel.’ The amber-eyed girl paused here to get her thoughts straight and also because the apology was getting quite cliché, ‘Might as well finish up.’ She thought letting out a slight sigh and looked at Kagumi once again. ‘Your right, I should have gotten the chance to know you better, both of you, before I asked for help. I’d really like to do that…’ When she finished, her eyes filled up with tears which seemed impossible to stop but she somehow managed to do so before making a fool of herself in front of them again. The amber-eyed girl was completely aware that she was emotionally week and did everything she could to hide it but sometimes, like now, they were too overwhelming and she lost control over them, acting a bit immature.

She looked at Matt, " I dont bite when I dont need to Matt," she looked back to the girl and stood up, the girl was an inch or two below her, her face softened a bit " even though we were schooled, most of our morals we learn ourselves seeing as we hate the figures here and cant really rely on anyone else, So I dont really think it makes a difference whether you taught yourself or if someone else did" her entire being was tense, but now it was at a calming state, " but you might wanna watch words a bit because I do have an issue with being manipulated, there is too much hell when I find stuff like that," she picked up her book and sat back down, leaning back on the wall and looking at the girl with fierce but powerful amber eyes.
The look in the girls eyes had confirmed her suspicion of manipulation attempts, the tears that the girl was holding back were those that were frustrated, as if she had lost control of something she wanted. " just calm down and sit down, I wont bite unless I need to" she stuck her tongue out at Matt when she repeated this and ten looked back to the girl offering her a place to sit.

Matt was definitely taken aback once the tears showed up in Amex's eyes. Although she was keeping them back, he wasn't exactly ready for them. Criers was one of the things he hated dealing with. Whenever a girl started crying, he always felt so damn uncomfortable and things just got awkward. Luckily for him though, Kage seemed good with the whole comforting deal. Like most men would, Matt just leaned back and let the woman solve it.
Kage's comeback to his little tease forced an amused smile onto Matt's face. "Good to know," he responded with a bit of a laugh as he watched her stick out her tongue. But, first things were first as he averted his attention back to Amex. "Agreed," he began. "You heard her. Pop a squat and chill,"
Now Matt found himself leaning forward slightly as a gesture of interest. A sideways glance was sent in Kage's direction as she leaned on the wall. He had a feeling that she was strong for a chick, but she made one hell of an argument. There was definitely a respectable amount of strength resting in those eyes of hers. It kind of impressed him in a way. But now he was getting distracted.
"So, Amex, right?" he attempted to begin something more casual. The tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a knife. "Now that we've got the drama out of our systems, you said you weren't from around here. What brings you to boring ol' Wammy's?" It might've seemed like he was avoiding a potential problem, but at least he was fishing for information. That, and the upset nerves were beginning to get too stressful.

Her lips formed a calm smile as she saw Kage’s face softening. She sat down next to her, placing the beaten up sketch book in her lap and leaning over it so she could get a better view of the girl’s eyes. The look in them didn’t scare her one bit, on the contrary, it made her admire the older girl and her own eyes sparked to show this. ‘Got it, I wouldn’t want to do that anyway.’ She said with a slight ironic laugh and lifted her shoulders a bit, not moving her eyes from Kagumi’s powerful gaze.
The blond chuckled when she saw Kage’s tongue stick out at Matt, she hadn’t expected that from the girl, looks like she wasn’t the only one who still had a couple of childish traits in her. This made her cheerful side return. She pulled on her earring again, only this time with excitement rather than nervousness.
Amex turned to face Matt when she heard his question. She knew this would come up sooner or later but had nothing to hide so she just smiled again and began to explain ‘Ah…that’s a long story…’ she paused for a second and added quickly ‘But I’m gonna tell you so you don’t think I’m hiding something again.’ And continued with a little shrug ‘I’m from Japan but I’ve lived in the US for almost seven years, though now I’ve decided to go back there.’ She stopped for a moment moving her hand from her earring to a lock of her hair and fiddled around with it as she started explaining why she was there now ‘I was supposed to switch flights here but the plane that was supposed to take us crashed, oh God, and they said we had to take the next one but it’s in a week, sooo... here I am.’ She stopped again realizing how ridiculous that story sounded and the deep red appeared on her cheeks yet again as she finished ‘Pretty stupid, right?’
(Holy **** it is >.>; but I couldn't think of any other reason for her being there... xD')

The surprise and impressed looks of the two kids left her unchanged, but very happy to see. The thing that set her apart from the other three sucessors was the fact that she was a girl, and with being a girl came the female intuition, which combined with her learned intuition gave her the ability to see and consider things at a level the boys couldnt even comprehend, it set her apart from the three of them and gave her a small sense of pride, but that was for another day, it was another thought fr another time.
Matt seemed to wanna break the tense mood the girls had made talking forward and back, so for him, she relaxed and focused on Amex to prevent her from being distracted by him too. She absorbed everything said by her down to the last sentence, " yeah it does," she admitted bluntly, " but I have heard worse." she pulled her book oto her lap and drummed her fingers on the purple velvety cover, liking the feel of it under her arm as she listened.

Matt raised an obvious brow as he listened to her story, letting his finger feel the small, sunken B on the button of his Game Boy Advanced now sitting uselessly in his lap. As she finished and Kage gave her brief response, he couldn't help but think it over as an act of habit. It was almost too strange of an event to be untrue. Before he mentally slapped himself as a reminder that the whole thing was pretty much over with, he figured that if she was going to make up a story, it would be more elaborate, or at least less random.
"Huh," he began after Kage commented. "That is wild," There was a slight pause as he searched for a little something to add. "So, welcome to our side of the United Kingdom. You're in for a long week," he gave a half-hearted smirk. "Nothing to do here but watch the grass grow," Now of course Matt knew that wasn't true if you wanted to see London or something like that, but now he was just speaking from his own personal opinions. His whole time in Wammy's House, he'd had nothing to do but homework (Or blowing it off), smoke, torture Roger, and occasionally torture Near, which when done in repetition for years on end, became somewhat dull. There was even a touch of envy when Amex spoke of the places she's been. Hell, it didn't have to be out of the country, but someday Matt did want to get the hell out of here. But as long as he was the accidental genius, he was probably going to have to stay put.

she was surprised that Matt had even decided to speak after all of this flurry of misunderstsanding. But she didnt blame him, it was an odd story, but she had no choice but to believe it. she had heard a report about a plane crash, so it checked out and she could rely on the information. She wasnt defensive anymore, now she was a bit more welcoming, more relaxed ( but then again, she hadnt slept in a bit so she was probably tired.) she looked from Matt to Amex, " thats true I guess, there isnt much to do here except sit around and do what you do. then go to classes, but we most of the time just sit in our respective corners thats all."
" sometimes we leave to go places, but most of us stay here," she flashed a look at Matt," you need to get out more often." when she was here, all she would do is sit down and read with the occasional chess. When the boys terrorized one another, all she did was watch, but now that she knew one of her fellow heirs a bit better, maybe she had a reason now to put the book down and walk around, maybe if she was lucky, someone would play chess with her that was actually good.

Amex looked at Kagumi then Matt then back at Kagumi as they took turns to reply. The incident was strange and for a second she thought they wouldn’t believe her and so she was relieved when they commented back.
Until now she hadn’t realized how dynamic her life had actually been. After her mother’s death, she had lived day for day never knowing what awaited her the next and here she was now, having virtually nothing to do for a week. She wasn’t complaining though, even someone who enjoys dynamic life, like herself, needs a rest once in awhile. This would give her the opportunity to do some of the things she liked without worrying about anything. Though it was a full week… the blond shook her head at the thought of ‘having fun’, which basically meant getting into trouble, she promised herself she wouldn’t do anything unusual and simply behave this time, she would have all the fun she wanted when she gets back home.
And still, the thought of not doing much during her stay was teasing her. ‘Really?’ she asked hopping to hear a ‘just kidding’ from one of them but was left disappointed ‘That’s not so bad I suppose…’ the idea of watching grass grow for a living was shocking for her enthusiastic self, but she decided not to let them know that and ask the question they were probably expecting from miles ‘So…what do you do around here?’ Her gaze moved from Kage’s book to Matt’s game. Surely, that couldn’t be all they did around here.

Matt only glanced over to Kagumi once more when she directed a comment towards him. Out of witty comebacks, he merely gave a shrug of agreement. She was right. He seriously needed to make plans to sneak out soon. The only reason he hadn't done so recently was because he blew all of his cash the last time, and anyone who pays remotely any attention to him can tell that he can't take a stroll in the city without falling in love with the newest game. As much as he liked to get out, he really didn't feel like torturing himself. And it wasn't like he made a habit out of meeting new people all the time or relaxing in the park. Matt made a mental face at the thought. He wasn't a huge fan of the so-called "Great Outdoors".
An expectant sigh was heaved from him once Amex let out the eventual question. With everything going on, he could smell that question coming. But now that she had asked it, he had to be careful with his answer. As young and seemingly innocent as she was, the details of Wammy's House had to remain under strict lock and key. It wasn't too hard of a task at all though. "The normal orphanage stuff I suppose," he shrugged with a less than enthusiastic frown. "Study, homework, a few leisure things here and there, and occasionally raising a little hell," The response was simple, and true enough. He decided it was best that he left the final hobby mentioned vague. Matt already found himself doing all he could to avoid a dirty smile coming to his face as the memory of a few good examples came to mind.

Kagumi smiled, " Dissapointed? its true, unless you decide to go into the world outside the best shot you have to any real fun is whatever you incline to. but really us kids tend to mind our own business, we just sit and do whatever we are inclined to do then we go to classes, even the ones considered terrors arent that active." a bit of the long hair she had pushed behid her shoulder had shifted back to cover one of her eyes and give her a bit of an older mysterious look though she remained unchanged, " I'm sorry if you thought being here would be some big adventure, its just how it is here." she looked back to matt who made a face at the thought of sneaking out, " lemme make you a deal, next time I leave, I'll take you withme and I'll buy allright?"
She looked back to Amex with a smile, " so basically youre in prison, with the freedom to do whatever you wish as long as youre in the confines of whammy house. unless you wanna play tag with the other kids or hopscotch and such. I tend to keep to myself whenever I am here, you may not try to be quiet but I am," she leaned over the book with a smile.

So prison it was. She decided nodding a bit to herself in the posses. It was going to be like a vacation after all, she could get around to sketching the landscapes and what not. Her usual childish gaze remained the same but her voice sounded more mature as she replied “Disappointed? Maybe I am a bit but don’t get the wrong idea I didn’t expect this to be the adventure of a life time.” She smiled and added “You don’t need to worry about me, I’m usually the one who turns a place upside down but I can behave when I want to and, seeing as I am a guest here, I won’t cause you any trouble, you have my word.” Amex didn’t know if her promise meant anything to them but at least she was certain that she wouldn’t break it. “And what do you do for fun? ”She asked with and small change in her tone that now sounded more childish and excited. “Surely you have a favorite activity, seeing as this is prison…” She smirked finishing the sentences and patiently waited for the two to reply. She wanted to know more about them, starting with sharing hobbies seemed to be a good idea yet she didn’t want to seem pushy so she answered her question before them “I for one enjoy reading and sketching, sometimes singing but only when no one’s around, I don’t like to have a big audience…another thing I like to do is design games or make up stories I often turn into a manga or novel…though I don’t have anything finished…” she shrugged a bit finishing the last comment but just to bust up her confidence she added “Yet!” and let out a little chuckle.

Kagumi smiled warmly, it was good she made the most out of what she had, it meant that if she planned on staying here for a little bit at least she respected them enough to know that it was something not to be bothered with. Then she asked what she liked, and Kagumi's smile quickly became a half smile as she had to ask herself that, what did she like? " Well...." she thought a bit, her eyes on the ceiling before she looked back down to Amex," I read obviously, I write a lot too, im sort of what would be called an artiste...I think thats the word. I like music," she looked down at the book, " and there are a few....mystical things i am looking at, no reason, just that it seems interesting."

Kage's offer brought a smile out of Matt for obvious reasons. Going out into England with a girl willing to pay his way sounded like a darn good idea to him. Of course, he's done something like that with a few Wammy girls before, but they'd always go Dutch. That, and they'd always giggle and lock an arm around him and treat it like some kind of date. Somehow, he highly doubted that Kage would be as air-headed about it as they were. She seemed more so the type to just treat it as if she were hanging out with a friend, which was what it was. As much as he liked having the occasional cutie hanging off of him, she would be a bit of relief. But still, he was about to make another smart-ass/flirtatious comment about it until he stopped himself. Reason one; Amex had started talking again and Reason two; girls usually don't tend to appreciate it when a guy seemingly flirts with one and not the other. Sure, it was all just friendly jesting, nothing serious, but he wasn't sure yet what kind of girl Amex was when it came to that sort of thing. It was better to hold in back.
He heard the blond's question and knew his answer instantly. His hobbies were all to obvious to him and anyone who knew him at all. However, he felt a tad bit out of the loop when he discovered that he was surrounded by artists. "Well, unlike you two it seems, I don't have a creative bone in my body,"' he admitted. "My hobbies include playing video games, smoking, hanging out with my best friend Mello, picking fights, workin' the ladies, and basically doing what I really shouldn't," Before he ended his list, he put on a sly grin .Where as some people wouldn't admit their role as the troublemaker, Matt found himself taking some sort of pride in it.
