Angel hummed along as she began to frost the fresh strawberry cake that had come out of the oven. She began to frost is carefully , wanting it to look as expensive as possible. She sighed and began to put slices of strawberry on the cake. She smiled brightly and put the cake on the store front window so she could get more customers. It was a fairly small business compared to the other stores around her. She sighed and began to clean up the mess she had made . She knew she was covered in flower , but she really didn't care. She loved feeling more independent and feeling a purpose. She knew it didn't please her parents for her to work in something as frivolous as this, but she enjoyed it none the less.

I could never be like Kira. Could I?

Asuka pulled Sasuke in through the door. Sasuke was no less reluctant to enter than he was to shop with her in Aoyama earlier in the day. Sasuke would hate taking Asuka shopping a lot more if it weren’t for the odd fact that he lived in Aoyama anyway. Aoyama had no residential areas, but Sasuke lived in the one mansion that towered over it. From nearly any point in Aoyama, Sasuke could look back and see his house on the hill just outside the busy area. Asuka was excited to enter the pastry shop because she’d never before had she visited this one. It was also obvious that she expected exceptional deserts—an expectation spurred by the implications of a French name. Sasuke was still just as melancholy as he’d ever been despite the fact that his depression was gone. His depression was gone ever since he’d illegally and stealthily obtained so much information about the Kira case because he now had something to give his life meaning. All he could think about was getting rid of Kira, and the reasons would be obvious to anyone who knew his life. He didn’t look any happier, but Asuka, someone who spent much time with Sasuke, could tell he was a happier person. Sasuke paid little attention to whatever sort of Danish pastry she’d ordered. While waiting for her treat, though, Asuka recaptured Sasuke’s attention when she said that a friend of hers from her school knew who Kira was. Her friend had told her that Kira was a Japanese law enforcement agent of some sort. “That’s not an uncommon theory. It’s feasible, but it’s far from the truth. Regardless, I thought I told you not to discuss Kira in public from now on.” Asuka asked Sasuke if he said this because he still thought that Kira could be any ordinary looking guy or girl in Japan. “Yes,” Sasuke said as he looked around, “and you need to proceed as though that’s the case.” Sasuke pondered the potential consequences of Kira hearing them talk that way. Then, he began to contemplate the far worse ramifications of telling Asuka about all the information he’d uncovered recently by hacking into Sakura TV’s Central Mainframe from his laptop. She would support me, but her support would be more harmful than helpful most likely, he thought. It’s not that she can’t keep secrets necessarily; it’s that she can’t hide things well. She’s too transparent. It is unfortunate, though, that I have no one to share this information with. The fact that Sakura TV had so much unused footage from Kira and L was a big find. There was so much more than what he originally said to the world and specifically L via the media.
Asuka, then, thanked Sasuke for taking her shopping in Aoyama. She loved it when he did things like that. Sasuke never minded it; money, of course, was no object. He'd already bought Asuka shoes, purses, clothes, etc. Of course, even with all he'd bought her, even she didn't have nearly as much jewelry on as Sasuke (gold medallion, earrings, gold bracelets, gold rings, etc.) He was the reason she looked so wealthy among her friends despite the fact that she was actually somewhat poor. Although, most store owners in Aoyama knew Sasuke because his business was good business; he tended to spend good money, and the restaurants outside of Aoyama knew Sasuke the same way. However, Sasuke had never been to this relatively new bakery.
He responded to Asuka saying, "I'm just glad to get away from To-Oh for a while. I like the whole dorm experience and all, but I get bored up there sometimes. It might be better if you and I attended the same school."
As he expected, Asuka responded with her routine speech about how she could never be smart enough to get into To-Oh-- never be as intelligent as Sasuke. Sasuke agreed, but there were things he knew and envied about her. One of which was that she was so observant. She noticed everything, and smoking weed (a habit Sasuke desperately wanted to lose) had dulled his senses. He was, at least, a bit more observant before his father died, but his father's death was the reason for smoking various forms of marijuana in the first place.
