GENERAL CONDUCT
Please conduct yourself in an overall responsible manner. Being that this is a role-play board and intended for entertainment purposes, the staff asks that all members treat one another with respect. Acting like a pompous know-it-all and arguing constantly will get you nowhere, and instead you may be slapped with a warning or perhaps a ban.
Please let a staff member know if you are quitting or going away, and even post in the appropriate board (located here) to let the other members know. Posting if you will be busy and therefore less active is also appreciated so that we can figure out what to do about your characters.
Mild cursing is allowed, but only in role-play or rants.
JOINING
When you join the forum, it is believed that you intend to post. A lack of posting is inactivity, and this may result in a deletion.
Please, upon joining, have part of your character application up within three days. We are not strict about this rule, but this is an RPG forum and not a general discussion chat board. If you leave this for too long, or leave your application incomplete for too long, you may be deleted.
Short applications for canons are likely to not be accepted, as the staff wishes to be certain that the canon members are willing to put effort into plot development and posts. It is suggested that an aspiring canon applicant go above and beyond in their applications. Please also be prepared to be an active member of the forum.
CHARACTERS AND CANONS
This is A DEATH NOTE ROLE-PLAY. Do not ask about applying as a character from another fandom. Death Note canons and OCs only.
The admin reserves the right to limit the amount of any group in OCs
Currently will accept: one more assassin, and no more Wammy House related. As well, no more freakishly smart people or geniuses will be allowed.
There is a temporary ban on foreigners. Too many people have foreigner characters, so for a while, everyone is asked to please make any new characters Japanese people.
You are allowed to have as many original characters as you can handle, but no more than one character to one account. This means that if you choose to submit another character to the forum you must register for another account. This is for organizational purposes and so that the staff can tell which characters are being kept active and which are not. It doesn’t matter if you logged on just the other day with another account; the inactive accounts will be deleted.
Each member is allowed one main character canon. You are free to apply for another canon position so long as this does not require you to role-play with yourself.
Example: you may be portraying Yagami Soichiro, but if you chose to you could apply for one of the less important Shinigami (such as Midora).
If you wish to reserve a canon, please PM a staff member. Upon having your reservation accepted, you will have up to five days to complete your application. Special cases will have this vary. Please also change your display name to your desired canon’s name.
ROLE-PLAYING
As this is a semi-literate to literate level RPG, we ask that all members be able to easily post 125 words or more when role-playing. This goes for the Crack Board as well. Posting above this level is strongly encouraged, as the staff sometimes considers raising the word count level from time to time.
This RPG forum is based in English. This means that you should be fluent in the English language in order to role-play here, and be able to type in proper grammar and use correct spelling and punctuation. The use of chatspeak, even in the OOC boards, is strongly discouraged and it is not allowed in role-play. Those using chatspeak during role-play will find Raito sneaking up on them only to be beaten over the head with a heavy crowbar before their bodies are hidden in their neighbour’s trashcans.
Realism. This is a VERY important point of the rules. The setting in which the plot of Death Note takes place is constructed as a very realistic version of our world, and as such it functions by certain REGULATIONS. Your characters won't automatically know what you, as a reader/viewer know about things such as the Kira case, Wammy's House, L's and Raito's whereabouts, etcetera. As such, if your characters don't realistically have a reason to know such things, they shouldn't. Period. Also, do try to pay proper respect to the layout and functioning of certain locations and facilities in the canon material.
Power-playing and God-moding is not allowed. If you do not know what this means, please take the time to find out and then come back.
Character pairings are permitted, though yaoi relationships between canons are not so as the forum does not become something like fanfiction.
DEATH AND DEATH NOTES
Being that this is a Death Note RPG, it should be noted that every character on the forum runs the risk of being killed in some manner, whether it be caused by a Death Note or not. Deaths are to be handled by the staff, and if an idea is presented to them that is well thought-out and would provide plot advancement then the idea may be approved and a message will be sent to the player of the victim, notifying them of what is to occur in the role-play.
Note: Threatening members with their character’s death is not allowed. If we discover any more of this is taking place, then a permanent ban will be put into effect on the culprit. Immaturity such as this will not be tolerated.
Other Death Notes will be handed out by the admin, according to how many Shinigami are around the site. Once we choose who receives each Death Note, a Shinigami will be asked to be included with it. Do NOT ask for a Death Note… the staff chooses according to the application quality of a character, their role-play abilities, and how they may affect the plot.
