Quiet...it was so quiet in this cafe, it was nearly unsettling for some. But for our lovable punk-rock school-girl style girl named Neko, it was perfect. She hated crowds with a passion. Unfortunately, she had been situated near the window...and there were birds on the ground, pecking at bread crumbs. She hated birds. She stood up and moved to a farther seat, away from the window and the birds. Her hair was up in a ponytail today, revealing sharp cheekbones and her amethyst hued orbs were dark and dull, she was thinking, as usual. Today, she wore a navy blue t-shirt with a angel sitting on a crescent moon. Her skirt was knee-length, and jet-black with a silver belt across her hips, with faux gold studs on it. She leaned against the comfortable seat and sighed, drinking her hot chocolate. She wasn't a fan of Coffee, Hot Chocolate was more her thing. Outside, it was sunny and warm and people passed by the cafe, heading to the park and going about their business. She gazed around the cafe with her dark amethyst optics, reveling in the fact that it was so quiet. Frowning at the time, she continued to sip her hot chocolate. She still had 3 hours before her classes started.

Today Raito happened to be taking a break of sorts. One of his classes had just ended and he’d decided to make his way to the café before heading off to his next and last class of the day. Perhaps the day would turn out well for him after all… it was the one day of the week he was able to take things relatively easier because he had only two classes. He sighed a little as he shifted the messenger bag he used to carry his books, walking past the café window before stepping inside. As he did so he looked behind him for no particular reason other than to see if anyone he happened to know was walking by as well and, seeing no one, he looked forward once more and walked toward the counter. He didn’t particularly feel like eating anything, nor drinking anything for that matter, but perhaps an iced tea would do him well and refresh him for the walk he had back to the university. The day was rather warm, so a hot drink would serve him no immediate purpose being that he wasn’t much of a coffee person, nor did he like the sweetness of some types of hot chocolate.
Raito looked around the café after placing his order. He stood there, keeping his posture straight, with his eyes darting around from person to person. The place seemed awfully quiet, being that there were so few customers at that time. He couldn’t decide if he liked it that way or not, but then again he had no important conversations planned so perhaps it was best that it was quiet. He could think to himself calmly this way… plan his next move. Although perhaps it would have been best to bring someone along with him this time, though he had a problem seeing the issue with being alone for a change. He was only going to be drinking a glass of iced tea before walking back to the university. He’d just wanted a break from the campus… wanted to relax in peace, and the walk had done him some good.
As he scanned the café he took note of the few people that were there, none of them particularly catching his eye. Good, that meant he was relatively secure for the moment and could take it easy. Being on guard all the time had been getting to him, but he was never going to let it down all the way. After all he’d seen he knew he had to be prepared for just about anything, though he usually did fairly well in regards to predicting what could be coming his way next. He did, however, take mental note of the few people that were there, including a young girl that may have been about his age. Grabbing his drink he moved to find a place to sit himself, deciding on a seat and table farther away from the window but close enough so that he could look out when he needed to.

Neko looked up, feeling eyes upon her, for a moment, her eyes met with Raito's, and her wide, child-like gaze narrowed a bit, and she looked down at her cup of hot chocolate. Something about him un-nerved her, but she shook it off mentally, but sighed, when it came back. Maybe it was the fact that she was sporting an "I support Kira" button that was making her nervous. Taking it off of her shirt, it flashed slightly in a weak beam of sunlight, and she quickly pocketed it. Taking out a plain white notebook, she began writing. She loved to write, but people had stated to her that she would never be an author. She didn't believe them. Her english professor had told her to write a book, and he'd see if he could get it published. That was the only true shard of light in her life, other than hopefully getting to meet the one and only Kira one day. But that was merely wishful thinking, and quite honestly, that kind of thinking had gotten her in more trouble then she felt she needed. A sigh escaped her coral-colored lips, and she shut the white notebook, still feeling uncomfortable, she looked at Raito. Curiosity ran it's course, but she dared not invite him to sit with her. He was rather...odd, from what she had seen at the University, usually keeping to himself. Mind you, that was a lot like Neko, who shut herself in her dorm for days at a time.

Raito didn’t waver as his eyes met with the girl’s, but instead he offered a light smile and a nod even as she looked down at her own drink, and then he returned his own gaze to his drink and lifted it to his lips to finally try it. The iced tea was sweetened a bit more than he would have liked, but nevertheless he was able to tolerate it and actually found the slight shock from the unexpected sweetness to be more refreshing than the cold drink itself. He shrugged slightly as he eyed the drink and tilted his head to the side, considering it, before placing it back down on the table. After doing this, Raito shifted his position and put his elbows on the table as well, and folded his hands so that he could place his head on them and think comfortably.
Raito looked back at the girl a moment later to see her removing something from her shirt. Upon closer inspection he believed it to be a button of some sort… perhaps the kind that one would pin to an item of clothing or a bag. And, thanks to a soft beam of light that entered in through the window as a probable reflection off of some sort of window or mirror, he was able to read what was written upon it. He raised his eyebrows as the words “I Support Kira” showed themselves to him, and he resisted a laugh of amusement. It was almost flattering to see someone expressing their beliefs so openly, though he wondered what him appearing in a café with a girl who did so so brazenly would do to him if anyone were to see. If L were to walk in, would he suspect a meeting of some sort? For some reason, he doubted that L would want to accept something as pure coincidence, or even if it were quite apparent he was certain that L would try and prod him with it.
At these thoughts, Raito narrowed his eyes unpleasantly, still seemingly looking at the girl though really he was now looking at nothing. But with a light sigh he lowered a hand to the table and scratched his head with the other. So much for a break - he had other ideas now. Raito wasn’t sure if she attended the university that he did, but he may have seen her around from time to time though he normally kept to his own group if he wasn’t around Takada. In fact, now that he thought of it, it might seem blatantly strange that he was on his own… the image he projected at the university was one of an intelligent young man with social skills and pride, the ideal student. One who worked hard at his studies while also putting forth the effort to be pleasant towards the rest of the student body. But it wasn’t his fault. No one that he was overtly familiar with at the university had been wandering around for him to chat up while he made his way over here. But he could, in fact, use this young girl to keep up that image. All he needed was an excuse to go over there. He could use the button he had seen, but all he could think of was introducing himself as one of the members working on the investigation unit for Kira and he’d like to ask her her view on things, but that didn’t really appeal to him and he decided against it immediately. Instead, he would introduce himself as who he was – the son of one of the detectives working on the case. It gave him something to discuss with her in regards to her opinion on Kira. And he could also get a closer look at exactly what people thought of him firsthand.
Raito decided to wait a bit longer before making his way over to her table. But he noticed her looking at him again out of the corner of his eye and in response he scanned her table, now seeing her white notebook. Hmm… studying or just writing randomly? Either way, it didn’t appear as though she was particularly busy, so Raito finally got up and headed over to her table, drink in hand.
“Excuse me, miss. Would you mind if I joined you? We both appear to be unaccompanied, and I’m finding it rather boring sitting alone.” He spoke as politely as he deemed appropriate and kept a friendly look on his face. It was easy being the Raito that the students at the university recognized.

Placing her pen in the middle of the white book, she gazed up, her amethyst-hued optics widening slightly as the one and ONLY Raito Yagami came up to ask to sit with her. She considered it for a few minutes, contemplating between allowing him, and striking up a conversation, or declining and sitting by herself. The latter of the two seemed more like her, the anti-social girl, but yet..the first option was unresistingly tempting. She nodded "Be my guest" She stated "company is oddly tempting today. My name is Neko, Neko Tsukino." Of course, she was lying, but unless someone had particular eyes, they wouldn't see her real name. "You must be Raito Yagami...it is a pleasure to finally be able to speak with you." Drawing the pen out from the book, she shut her writing, and placed it in her purse, once she did, however, the soft cerulean blue button with the black text softly clattered to the floor, and the words 'I support Kira' winked up at them. Quickly, she bent down slightly and picked it up, putting it away.
She couldn't risk the threat of being stopped on her quest to meet Kira. So, she kept a slightly friendly additude towards Raito, for now anyways, which sickened her slightly inside. She hated talking to people, especially when she wasn't finished her Hot Chocolate. She took a sip of it. It was at Perfect Drinking Temperature.

Raito watched the girl calmly as she placed her pen down on the book and then responded to him. At her words, he offered a slight laugh while looking at her and replying, “Strange, isn’t it? I couldn’t resist it, myself.” He grinned and then sat down on the opposite side of her, “thanks, Neko” he added as an afterthought, placing his own drink on the table after taking another sip.
At her later words, Raito easily dropped his smile and feigned a look of slight surprise. “Finally speak to me? Are we in the same year at school?” He asked, having just started university himself. But he was also quite aware of his standing at the school, having been honoured due to his high scores on the exams. But the honour hadn’t been his alone, though it should have been. Hideki Ryuga, or L, had also received the image of high-standing. In fact, it was through the university that Raito had first met L… L had introduced himself. It had been a good move as Raito could do nothing in such a position. But now he, too, was on the task force and had easy access to the detective, though there was little that could be done about him at that point.
A light clattering sound was caught in Raito’s ears just as he noticed Neko placing the book back into her bag. As soon as he looked, he knew he didn’t need to take a second glance to know what it was. “You’re a Kira supporter?” He asked, as if he hadn’t already noticed beforehand. But again, he switched his posture easily to fit the situation, and he now crossed one leg over the other, placing an arm over the top of his seat, and took a drink from his glass, face perfectly calm and betraying nothing. He thought about adding ‘why’ onto the question, but what he had asked was just as good as a why, though she could always respond with the simplistic yes or no, though he knew no one would be impressed by an answer like that he wasn’t sure which sort of answer she would give.
Raito wondered briefly about what has possessed him to come over and speak to her. For some reason research wasn’t a good enough excuse for him anymore, and nor was putting up some sociable charade. Anyone was entitled to be alone at times, right? Well, apparently not when one was under the suspicion of being Kira. Even when he studied he was under suspicion of…. what, exactly? What could he possibly be doing while studying? They didn’t know about the Death Note, and he was going to keep it that way unless another purpose presented itself. He couldn’t think of what could possibly change that at the moment, so perhaps he had indeed thought of just about everything. For now he would be safe. So perhaps he had made the right choice in speaking with this girl, or maybe sitting alone would have been just as good a choice. L could do nothing but pick at him for the moment, and L wasn’t even there at the café. And Raito planned on doing nothing that would give the means for suspicion. Here he was just being Raito and drinking an iced tea. In fact, he almost found that a shame. If L were here, he’d be most disappointed… though of course he’d be monitoring every single movement he would make.
Raito, keeping his composure, offered a slight smile to Neko in relation to his own thoughts. No matter which way he looked at it, only someone paranoid would give the little spontaneous meeting grounds for suspicion, so perhaps he could speak more freely than he would elsewhere, though he had nothing special to say. At least he could now relax…

Neko smiled a tad bit at him "We are" She replied "I have been meaning to speak with you before, but I have been so caught up in my studies, I haven't been able to." At the second query, Neko considered it for a few moments. It was quite obvious she was, but...to answer a question such as this, well...she was a bit..skeptical about answering. Placing her elbows upon the table, and interlocking her fingers, she rested her chin upon her hands. "I am, in fact a Kira supporter" She replied "I hold no guilt for supporting him, he is doing us all a favour about what he's doing..He's..practically God in my eyes." There, she had said it, She resumed her relaxed position on the chair and wrapped her hands around the porcelian cup and lifted it, taking a small sip from the sugar-infused chocolate. Gazing at Raito, with a look of slight interest upon her face, she placed the cup back onto the table, it made a slight 'clunk'as the bottom of the cup hit the table. Unperturbed by this sound, she frowned slightly. "May I inquire as to why you ask?" She queried, raising a slender eyebrow at him.

Gripping at the glass of iced tea, the eighteen-year-old leaned back slightly in his chair before releasing it and looking at the girl before him curiously. Shame he hadn’t really noticed her before, though he supposed the classes were large enough for such a thing to be acceptable. But still, he supposed an apology would be in order, if only for the idea of common courtesy. It wouldn’t really matter in this case if he meant it or not.
“Well, I apologize for not speaking to you myself, then,” he said coolly, closing his eyes as he spoke before reopening them and setting the deep auburn gaze back to his current company. ”Not doing so was rather unfortunate, I suppose.” He said it sweetly and simply and like he meant it, upping his act in the process. What was driving him to do so was beyond him, but for whatever reason he felt almost completely relaxed – probably due to the debate he’d had with himself in his head. Nevertheless, the simple situation he was in at the moment was almost gratifying in itself, and he felt like he should enjoy it the best he could. It had been a while since he’d dared not keep a perfect lookout. And at these thoughts, Raito flashed a grin the girl’s way before drinking from the iced tea again, only now noticing that he’d already drank over half. He’d just have to get a refill once he finished, then… even if it was over sweetened.
Now Raito noticed the girl switching her position, making it appear to him that she was doing so in order to contemplate something, which would obviously be his deeper question. Finally he was going to get somewhere; and when she began to speak, he allowed his expression to become serious, appear greatly interested, and he barely tore his gaze away from her. He knew that, with women, he had to look like a good listener, though not too overzealous. As he listened he tried to take reference from her own expressions as well, though he paid more attention to her use of words and the way she said them. But just from her sentence structure she’d made it appear to him that she was almost trying to defend her position on Kira… and while he was pleased with the fact that she was such an avid supporter of his work, he also wasn’t sure why, if she was such a fan, that she would use such a string of words. Though perhaps he was merely overanalyzing.
“Well, I’m sure many people hold the same opinion as you do,” he now replied simply, seeing it as the perfect time to avert his gaze a bit and allow himself to appear a bit lost in thought, “though I think that plenty of people are afraid to voice their own opinions. After all, if people view him as God like you say you do, that can create a sense of awed fear.” He paused, “I’m sure not many actually know what to make of him just yet.” As he concluded he sipped at his drink, looking at Neko over the rim of his glass before setting it back down.
But now it appeared it would be his turn to answer some questions. He’d expected that question… knew it would be coming, even though he believed that his question on Kira should be considered perfectly normal by now and come up in conversation often. But he still had to figure out how to answer this, and it was more difficult to decide because he wasn’t entirely certain of the sort of person this girl was just yet. He supposed a simple answer would be due, one that could easily be considered common knowledge, though he could add something extra if he wished.
“Well, my father is a detective, as you may already know,” he stopped for a moment, considering her and still trying to decide what to say, “and he’s working on the Kira investigation. I supposed it would be interesting to get the opinions of some members of society on how they view Kira.” He inserted a shrug at this point, wondering how he could express his own opinion to ease her, but not specifically say he was for or against… just make it seem like he was for, which he obviously was but she had no reason to need to know such a thing. “Such an awe-inspiring thing as Kira should have many differing opinions, wouldn’t you say?”
He now kept a pleasant look on his face, though not exactly smiling. He believed he’d done quite well in stating why he’d asked, though he could have gone an even simpler route and simply said he was curious from seeing the button, but still… he didn’t think much harm could come from what he had said. He’d heard several discussions involving Kira in the previous months, and he’d said nothing that was all that different.

Neko allowed her self a smile, probably the first one she had shown since this entire conversation. "Perhaps" She replied, referring to his last question "But unlike others, I do not fear stating my opinons on the new God, hence, my button and my slight.. want to meet him, However, I doubt I will be able to meet him any time soon, considering how busy he seems to be.." She looked at him critically for a moment "May I ask..if it is not too bold of me, what are your personal opinions on Kira?" She tilted her head lightly to the left, to analyze him. He seemed to be at ease, but she could not help but notice a slight amused glint in his gaze. Neko had asked a lot of people upon thier opinions of Kira, a few, were God, the other opinions, however were not so nice, a lot of people considered Kira to be the death-bringer, an angel of death, hence, they feared him. Neko, however had no such thoughts. She averted her gaze to the worn wooden table, noticing the scratches that had crossed it's otherwise smooth top. She took a sip of the hot chocolate, and leaned back, awaiting his answer. Her posture, tense only moments ago, had relaxed considerably. It appeared as though she held no reservations in speaking her mind. Again, she lifted her cup to sip the chocolate and blinked, when she heard her cellphone ring. Placing the cup on the table, she grabbed her cellphone out of her bag and frowned when she saw it was someone she didn't want to talk to,hitting 'end' on the phone, she placed it back in her bag.
"My apologies" She said "It was merely someone who I am not fond of speaking to."

Looking around the café for a moment, Raito kept is calm appearance while appearing to examine the area out of pure curiosity only. While really, he was looking for those he may have been more familiar with at school or perhaps a co-worker of his and his father’s. Regardless, it wouldn’t hurt to be sure he knew which cards he had to play to make absolutely certain he appeared to be a simple, dedicated university student who had gotten involved in the Kira investigation. While he had no intention of alerting Neko to that last fact or vocalizing it in any way at that current moment, he had to play the role that was required of him. As long as it was only L who was suspicious of him, things would play out the way they were supposed to; the way he wanted them to.
Raito directed his gaze back to the girl very quickly once he heard her begin to speak again. He retained a look of surprise when he heard her mention the fact that she wanted to possibly meet Kira, but only because logic told him that it should have been predicted - carrying a Kira button obviously showed a bit of fanaticism. He found it difficult to hold back a smirk, and instead had to settle for hiding his own amusement. How ironic it was for her that Kira sat right in front of her and she didn’t even no… had no idea that the new God, as she had so fondly called Kira, was conversing with her and sharing a drink. And best of all, they were discussing just that – Kira.
Considering his own reply, Raito knew instantly how he had to play this. He could not express much support for Kira, he knew that. If someone on the investigation or worse, L, were to hear him say the things he wished he could, it would likely not work out in his favour. Instead he had to act as if he were being watched and overheard constantly. He needed to play this out in almost every aspect of his public life. For the trust of the investigation team, he had to appear as though he did not support Kira. But that didn’t mean he couldn’t act as though he didn’t approve of Kira’s ideals… yes, he knew what to say.
Opening his mouth to speak, he stopped himself when he heard her cell phone ring. And then, in the moment it took her to check the caller ID and ignore the call, he had analyzed her manner of speech further; polite, apparently quite articulate, and a slightly grander way of expressing things. The way she apologized to him only made him even more certain of what he may be able to expect from her in the way of replies. He would be interested, though likely not entirely intrigued. Yet still, he waved off her apology in a polite manner of his own.
“It’s fine,” he began, “even if it was someone you’re not quite that fond of, I do appreciate you not answering it.” Raito looked at her carefully, considering going for his iced tea but then deciding against it. “But I do believe you asked me of my own opinions of Kira,” Raito had to pause here, wondering how he would phrase what he wanted to say. He supposed that it wasn’t entirely important how exactly he said it, but he wanted it to be perfect with no holes. The trick here would be not to say too much. “I can’t say I support his methods. I appreciate the fact that he is using his powers for what he must consider good and not for something even more destructive, but I can only support his ideals. If the only way to end crime is with murder, then that doesn’t really say much for humanity.”
Only now did Raito take another drink from his glass, now draining it completely. He was pleased with the way he had finished. And still, he felt that amusement that danced within him, making him want to grin due to his own private joke. Yes, it was perfect. How could anyone suspect that he was Kira? He’d said it so perfectly, outwardly denying the fact that Kira was good in his eyes. That Kira could be God. That in the end, Kira was the only choice and all other choices were only evil in disguise… there was only the pure way, Kira’s way, or there was evil. The world had to be cleansed, and only he could do it. And for the sake of what was good, Raito had to voice the opposite and play for the opposing team. But here before him sat someone who saw his vision, and it was truly a shame that he could not show her the way.

The answer he gave her was somewhat startling, but she masked her dissapointment in his phrase by taking a sip of her hot chocolate, which, by now was colder than it should have been. Wrinkling her nose, she pushed the porcelian cup aside, and studied Raito closely. She didn't know why, but she didn't entirely believe him. A frown, appeared on her soft features "For some...odd reason I do not entirely believe what you just said" She stated. "Either you are hiding something.." She tilted her head "Or Perhaps I am just being a bit too observant, but, I swear a smirk twitched at the corners of your mouth..." She wasn't entirely positive why she had just stated this, but, there was something about Raito she found she could trust, to a point. She crossed her arms on the table, and gazed past him. Her amethyst-hued gaze narrowing a bit as she saw the birds. "....Birds...how I hate them.." She murmured.
