She didn't get the idea of human needs. Raito wasn't going to earn her trust easily, if he agreed to Misa. The Shinigmi's eyes stared forward, following the girl who now had the Death Note she dropped. Rem would always keep her promise to matter what, unlike a few other Shinigmi’s; Rem was an honest, truthful and loyal type of Shinigmi. She wondered who's Raito's own shinigmi was, having a slight guess it maybe, Ryuk. As she hadn't been him in the Shinigmi world for quite some time, but she had other things placed on her mind.
Floating ahead of Misa, as she wasn't to let the girl from her site, she shook her head slowly to herself. Watching only a few people hanging outside, at this time of night. Not many children or parents would be out for that matter.
Remembering the many things she told young Misa, and trading half her life-span for the Shinigmi eyes, she would never understand human, and for the matter like then a hole lot at all. She would always have a dislike for them, all humans. Besides some where just... disgusting and always would be in her old eyes. Never having to sleep, she would live for years, oh so many years. Did she get tired? No, the shinigmi glanced at her companion before stopping, waiting for the blond to hurry up.
"I am, never to understand this world." Rem spoke. How many times one shinigmi tired, mostly all would and did fail. Watching the girl she shook her head once more, though without talking at all before looking back at Misa, to let out a small sigh. "So. Now we've found the real Kira" she said. Before shutting up once again, as always Rem never talked a lot, staying to herself unless told so, and she floated above the street, becoming closer to the Yagami household.
Her eyes looked around before at the Yagami house. "Misa. I shall go in and check if he is there" Rem said, nodding her head before walking into the Yagami hose. She only had to walk through the door, as Rem could go through them. It was good that she was near Misa as well.
Having a piece of Misa's notebook, only a small piece from the page. Rem looked around Raito's room, only to end up dropping the small note onto his desk before going back outside to Misa "He should be in his room, soon." Rem said.

As she walked, Misa found it more and more difficult to control her excitement. She was going to finally meet the real Kira! Finally, she could talk to the one who brought justice to the man who killed her parents, and to so many other criminals. In her need to impress him, she wore her favorite dress, enjoying the way the lace-covered material clung to her body. Her heeled boots clicked over the pavement as she trailed behind Rem, twirling a lock of long, blond hair around her finger, a bright smile spread wide across her face.
As the thought about the much awaited moment to come, Misa idly flicked her gaze over the few who were out. She habitually noted their remaining life-spans as she passed them, though not giving a care about their impending fates. The shinigami eyes she obtained from Rem would surely impress Raito, as she could be a great help to him with them.
Her own fate from agreeing to the eye trade did not concern her in the slightest. Anything that she could do to help Raito, no matter what the cost may be, she would be willing to do. Her love for Kira was beyond that for even her own life. But that love was not for just Kira anymore, but was now for Raito. Perhaps if she were to be enough of a help, he would come to feel the same way.
In her thoughts of Kira, of Raito, her pace slowed a bit. Vaguely, she noticed Rem stopped ahead of her and realized just how much she had fallen behind. Feeling impatient with herself for hindering her meeting, she jogged ahead in an almost bouncy manner, her excitement bubbling up to the surface again. Barely paying attention to anything but her thoughts of what was to come, she let out an indifferent sound in response to the shinigami’s first statement, though looked up at the sound of Rem’s slight sigh. Misa nodded enthusiastically, speaking in a quick, high tone. “Oh Rem, I can’t wait! I hope he likes me…. Do you think he will Rem? I hope…” She went on in a ramble, not really speaking to the shinigami directly.
Her rambling stopped abruptly as the shinigami stopped ahead of her, realizing that they were finally there! Her anticipation held her tongue still as she simply nodded, watching Rem disappear into the home of Raito, of the real Kira. Grabbing the bag at her side where her notebook was kept, she clutched it to her chest as she waited. Though the time that passed was short, it felt like an eternity to her. As Rem reappeared outside with her, Misa began to bounce on her heels, holding the bag even tighter to her body.
“I hope so Rem…” She twisted in little half circles as the wait drew out, her dress twirling about her legs, her eyes wide with excitement.

Bored with the dull dinner-table conversation of the furtive Yagami family, Ryuk began to drift away from his place behind Raito.
“Stupid humans, I can't even grab an apple with everyone sitting here,”he grumbled to himself.
Tempted to toy with the members of the family, Ryuk began to move with predatory intent towards Soichiro, who in the past few days had been a most enjoyable and unwitting target of various hand gestures and general venting on Ryuk's part. As he raised his hands nearer to the elder Yagami's head, he surveyed the room quickly, and upon seeing Raito, he quickly lowered his hands. Ryuk had a strange feeling that this was not the time for puerile fun, but rather, something a little more sinister. Moving back to Raito's side, Ryuk whispered in a conspiratorially hushed voice, “I'm going to go up to your room, down here is boring me, and as much as I wish death could end it, I'm sadly immortal.”
Glancing one last time at the subdued diners, Ryuk traveled up the stairs and entered Raito's room. Removed from under the eye of Raito, Ryuk allowed himself more liberty. He stretched his arms languidly and even permitted a yawn to escape his lips. With a sigh, he plopped onto the bed and after allowing his surroundings to become firmly planted in his memory, promptly snapped his eyes shut. He could not sleep, both due to the fact that he was hungry and that he remained curious about his earlier feeling. Something was amiss, and he would soon detect it.
He tried to remember the room as it was before supper had begun, and began to sort through a mental checklist.
“Hrmm, the books haven't moved, his bag is in the same place, the Deathnote hasn't been tampered with, and the desk is...the desk isn't clean anymore. It's not like Raito to leave scraps lying around.”
Ryuk vaulted himself off the bed and examined the desk. Intruding upon the usual cleanliness was a scrap of paper, which, after further inspection, proved to be rather interesting.
“Hyuk hyuk, this is from a Deathnote, and since Raito never leaves bits of paper from his notebook lying around, it must have come from somewhere else. Now to find out what's going on.”
Grinning widely now, for the situation had become much more lively, Ryuk pocketed the piece and returned to the bed to ponder circumstance.
“I could keep it, but that would mean interfering with another shinigami, and that wouldn't be much fun compared to letting them meet Raito. Hmm, I could put it back on the desk, but that'd be too easy, there'd be no shock value during the meeting. Hyuk hyuk, I'll just have to make him touch it without him realizing it! The look on his face when I first dropped in to meet him was priceless, seeing it again will be interesting, especially now that he keeps calling himself a god.”
Pleased with his chosen course of action, Ryuk gave a flourish and tucked away the piece of paper. All that remained was to wait for Raito to finish his dinner.

Yagami Raito, young genius and the god of the soon-to-be new world, sat over his dinner in a bored manner. He wasn’t particularly hungry, though he felt a certain need to sit there among the members of his family and listen to the idle chatter of his little sister as she went through some of the events of her own day. Of course he felt no desire to share anything about himself, and he instead listened, offered some comments of his own and even a bit of slight teasing, all in the effort of appearing to be the same old Raito. It was something he’d kept up over the course of many months, and he was surprised at how hard it was becoming. Gradually, he dragged his gaze over to his father… the man who had, at one point, been his idol. Now it seemed they were colleagues of sorts, and that Raito could no longer agree with what Yagami Soichiro wanted. Soichiro’s view of justice was leading him to want to catch Kira - his own son.
Not that Raito planned on allowing his father to uncover that little fact.
No, Raito could not agree with that. Didn’t think he would have even if he weren’t Kira. Kira was justice personified. Kira would cleanse the world of the human filth and create a new world, one where people could live in peace according to proper rules. Evil would not be tolerated. Murder and wars would cease to exist.
Suddenly, as Raito was pushing a carrot piece around his place, he noticed the shinigami Ryuk drift away from him. Trying not to look too interested, Raito took turns between studying his plate, his family, and Ryuk. What was he doing now? He watched the death god drift over to his father, and he resisted the urge to send a glare in that direction. Instead, Raito looked toward his father, though made it so that his eyes were actually resting on Ryuk, and opened his mouth to speak. He’d choose his words carefully so that the shinigami would know they would be a warning rather than a conversation starter directed toward Soichiro. But he realized quite quickly that he would not have to do as such, for Ryuk had noticed him and dropped his hands.
Keeping back an amused yet exasperated expression, Raito shrugged and shook his head for no reason, just in case his family had noticed him about to speak. He returned to pushing his food around his plate, and now took a bite of the salad, tasting the sweet-and-sour dressing and finding it a shock against the blandness of the rice he’d eaten before having the salad.
The voice of Ryuk now reached his ears, and Raito made no move to show that he’d heard. In the past it may have been difficult for Raito to contain his reactions to having Ryuk around and speaking to him now and then among his family, but now it was easy. Raito was no longer shocked by the shinigami’s presence, and had grown accustomed to the new habits he’d had to undertake to manage living with a death god possession. And the shinigami’s boredom didn’t surprise Raito either… it often appeared to Raito that if the shinigami wasn’t observing something remotely exciting a restlessness seemed to jump at him.
Raito couldn’t blame Ryuk, either. Immortality seemed awfully boring.
Raito sighed inwardly and decided to stay seated for another five minutes before proceeding upstairs to follow the shinigami. He remained idle during that time, not really paying attention to anything going on around the table, and finding things going quiet as the rest of his family continued the meal. He took small bites here and there, still not finding any form of hunger setting in, and then he finally excused himself after thanking his mother for the meal and complimenting her cooking.
Pushing his chair in and leaving the remnants of his meal on the table, he headed upstairs and into his room, seeing Ryuk on the bed almost immediately.
“I thought shinigami don’t need sleep.” He said after closing the bedroom door. It was meant to be a slightly sarcastic remark, but he didn’t look at Ryuk as he made his way to his office chair and sat there. He thought of opening his desk drawer and retrieving the Death Note hidden away, but instead he chose otherwise and grabbed a pen out of a jar on his desk, clicking the ballpoint in and out as he sat there, considering very little.

Rem looked at Misa "Misa. Do not worry. Unless the Shinigami does something to move what I have placed on his desk" Rem said, before staring at the Yagami house. Before she turned to face Misa, she waited for the girl. Maybe Rem should go in a check?
Unsure, she thought best to stay near Misa. Hating the idea of harm coming close to the young girl who Rem grown to mostly care about, Misa was mostly the only thing the shinigami had, besides her Death Note. Though her Death Note wasn't a lot of use to her, unlike some Shinigami's, Rem didn't bother writtign names in a lot, unless she was dead bored, but she ended up mostly watching her follow Shinigami's and see what they would do.
Looking up, to where Raito's room mostly to be, Rem looked at Misa "Misa." the shinigami said, floating behind the girl like she always did "I shall go and check. Not knowing if this Shinigami moved the piece of paper I placed on Raito's desk. But Misa, you should go and see as well" she said, but that was all before she floated towards the house.
Once Rem walked into the house, or mostly floated and went up to his room. She spotted Raito, before glancing around, then seeing Ryuk. Rem knew that Ryuk would mostly been one to get bored and drop his Death Note, only wo which Rem didn't think wise off
Staying near Raito's door, she watched before looking at Ryuk without a word. Before watching Kira, or so many people called the young boy. Who Rem ddin't like already a whole lost.

From the moment that Raito had entered the room, Ryuk's senses became sharper. Inwardly, he agreed completely with Raito's statement. Shinigami didn't need sleep, and Ryuk was far from feeling lethargic this night. In fact, much like the moment before a victim's death, the potential situation drawing closer would provide him with a great thrill. Looking around the room, Ryuk drank in all of his surroundings to savor the suspense.
“It's getting darker, hyuk hyuk, perfect. Normally Raito would be killing criminals around this time though, I wonder what's got him acting so sullen?”
Observing Raito's dull fiddling with the pen, Ryuk couldn't help but wryly murmur how boring mortality seemed.
“What a way to waste a life, he could be doing so much right now. Killing criminals, planning against L, finding me some apples...”
As he trailed off, his attention returned to the situation around him. The weather was perfect, only a little chilly due to it being late, and the subtle ambiance of the occasional car passing by lent an air of calm to things, a good origin for chaos to sprout from. The constant and methodical clicking of the pen acted as a metronome, only accentuating the stillness of the room. A lonely tempo, free of any music, any movement or words. Its stability began to bother Ryuk.
“Nothing should be that constant. The fact that it's from Earth doesn't help matters, things here always change.”he thought to himself. “Hyuk, hyuk. Odd that someone as unstable as Raito, no matter how much of a perfectionist, can manage to stomach that little click over and over. Knowing him, he should have denounced it as a sinner for not conforming to his ideals of a pen by now. Hyuk, hyuk, humans are still fun, especially the crazy ones.”
His mind now bent on picking out every mistake Raito had made, Ryuk's increasingly critical eyes found one very big mistake, though not one on Raito's part. A large non-human shadow was showing through the bottom of the door, one that Raito, having yet to touch the paper from the second notebook, was oblivious to.
Getting up nonchalantly from the bed, feigning a yawn, Ryuk made an apathetic round of the room. Had he been human, the aptitude of teenage boys for being zombies in the early mornings would have been put to shame. Content now that it would not seem suspicious, Ryuk drifted nearer the door, and stuck his upper body through it, as if to get some fresh air. Upon thrusting his head out, he found himself face to face with another shinigami. Skeletal and white, the gaunt shinigami stood tacitly before him.
“Perfect!”he thought in excitement, “now to get the message across without making too much noise.”
Utilizing several hand motions, Ryuk attempted to convey his meaning without words, in order to keep Raito unaware. His hands moved in a flurry. Taking too long to pull his torso back into the room would make Raito suspicious. First came the shushing gestures, a long finger held to his lips in feverish joy. Next was a waving motion, as both hands swept gracefully down the hall, as if to send Rem away.
Ryuk's mind raced. “Back up so that when he touches the paper he won't see your shadow!” Screaming his thoughts to himself, he continued waving Rem further down the hall to a satisfactory distance. Pleased with that part, he switched to a briefing of his plan via more hand signals. Pointing back towards the room, he imitated Raito studying, albeit a tad foolishly. To follow, he mimed a monster, as he raised his hands to his head and attempted to look more frightening than usual. The effect of him using his fingers as fangs was comical however, and upon realizing it, he tried a different method. Whispering had become his last resort, and with the silence in the room where his legs remained, a whisper was a wager.
Cupping his hand near Rem's head, he hissed quietly, “I want you to give him the biggest scare you can, wait a bit though, he hasn't touched the paper yet. You'll know when he has though. Trust me. Make it flashy, make it gruesome, just try something to make the “god” fear. Hyuk, hyuk, it'll be fun, I promise.”
Convinced his message was clear, Ryuk withdrew into the room and stretched his back casually, placing his hands on his hips and forming an arch. As his hand left his waist, he grabbed the piece of paper and hid it between his fingers.
“Time to start the fun.” he thought gleefully.
Advancing towards Raito, almost menacingly, he drew up behind him and with little warning, the hand carrying the paper smacked Raito in the head.
“Wake up Raito!!!”he shouted playfully. “Snap out of your little dream world for a minute and come back to this one, you're being really quiet, and I'm bored.”
His task done, he quickly placed the paper back in his pocket and gave a shrug.
“What? You can't expect me to sit here all night doing nothing.”
His perpetual smirk plastered on his face, Ryuk jumped back onto the bed and waited for events to unfold. Tonight would be a good night indeed.

[[sorry this took sooooo long...My muse for Misa is like.. no longer existent heh... I mus search for it!! xD]] This wait was going to drive her insane! Patience was not one of Misa’s strong points, especially right now. Though they must have been waiting for a mere amount of minutes, it felt like an eternity to her. What if the other shinigami had done something to hinder their plan? Would they really do that? Despite Rem’s reassurance, a slight amount of panic rose in Misa’s body. This was her moment to finally meet her Kira! This moment was stamped by fate, it was her destiny to meet and aid Kira, to be with him. With Kira; with Raito. Her smiles and bouncy attitude were replaced with worry. Everything needed to go according to plan, it just had to…
Bouncing on her heels in slight agitation, she looked over at Rem. As the shinigami spoke, a look of determination crossed Misa’s face as she nodded in response. Rem would be able to make sure things were going well, able to make sure Misa would be able to achieve her goal. Watching Rem float up and into the house, Misa took a deep breath. The excitement that had previously seemed to consume her thoughts began to return. She practically hopped up the steps to the front door, twisting and bouncing in anticipation. She was going to go inside his house! A gleeful sound escaped her lips as she brought a hand up to knock on the door, the sound echoing loudly in her ears.
She waited in sheer anticipation to be greeted but Raito’s family!! She was going to meet those who he lived with! She was going to see how her beloved Kira lived! A smile planted itself on her face, the type that would make one think her cheeks ached something fierce. Any worries now faded. This actually seemed to be the easier way to get into the house, now that she actually began to think about it…

Raito, who seemed much more bored than usual, continued his sullen clicking. He was well aware of the possibility that he could appear to be moping, but in reality he figured that maybe he needed a break. Of course, Kira couldn’t take a break, so that would be out of the question. And his schooling was also much too important. Raito had never once played sick in his life, and he wouldn’t start doing it now. Fate had chosen him to have the Death Note for the very purpose of eliminating the human filth… a purpose he would see to being fulfilled. Only he could do it. It was probably just one of those calmer, more lethargic days.
But how could he get L off his back? Perhaps the break idea had more merit to it than he had originally thought. If he continued his normal schedule, and neglected filling in criminals for a while… what would that do? Would that prove anything? So far, no one had any idea about the notebook. But if Raito did go about his usual schedule, with the exception of writing in any names, it could serve to pull the investigation away from him slightly. L would likely not drop Raito as a suspect so easily, but still…
No. It wouldn’t work. Once he resumed writing the names of criminals and the killings continued, L would probably find some slight change in his habits. That plan would end up serving Raito no purpose, and criminals that should have been dead during that break would have had longer to live. Crime could escalate once more. Although the second Kira could be of use…
But that plan was simply out of the question. Either way, it would be too risky. Raito had no way of knowing what type of person the Kira imposter was. And to go out and attempt to find this Kira could have an unfortunate result if not planned out carefully enough. And regardless, he couldn’t leave his grand plan in the hands of someone else just yet.
Raito leaned back in his chair a bit more, crossing one leg over the other and leaning his head against his right hand as he placed his elbow on one of the arms of the chair. The clicking of the pen ceased, and it was instead lolled around lazily in his right hand, being twisted around and gently flicked back and forth as he thought. His bangs fell to almost cover his left eye, and he sighed inwardly.
Just as Raito was beginning to relax and consider his course of action for the night in regards to which criminals he would be writing down, something hit him in the back of the head. The force brought his head forward slightly and he instantly grabbed the back of his head with his left hand, placed the pen back on the desk, and whirled around in the chair, eyes narrowed to a murderous glare. The voice of Ryuk reached his ears even as he turned, and his gaze met with the tall death god’s form and he looked up, still glaring.
“You’re bored? Then find a way to entertain yourself! Go find an apple to choke on!” Raito’s words came out harshly, easily expressing the fact that he was not in a good mood and that he was very annoyed. As he finished snapping, Raito spun back around, planted his feet firmly on the floor and left the chair, walking over to the wall nearest to the door, lifting his arm up to lean against it. Ignoring the shinigami’s next words, he lazily tucked a hand into one of the side pockets of his pants, and he considered what his next move should be. It was getting harder to find which piece to play and where to place it, but he’d figure it out soon enough. Raito lowered his head in thought, bangs sweeping forward and covering his eyes before falling back into position as he raised his head again.
Eventually, though, a sound broke through the irritating silence and Raito recognized it as knocking. Someone was at the door? The sound was faint, being that he was upstairs, but he could still hear it, however softly. He figured his mother or Sayu would answer it, but still… his gaze dragged toward his closed bedroom door and he wondered about going downstairs to see who the guest may be. Though he doubted that, at the time it was, it would be anyone for him.
Moving away from the wall with his hand now resting against it, Raito stood straight, finding the confines of his room comforting yet also now filling him with a strange anxiety.
“Why don’t you go downstairs and see who could be at the door, if you’re that bored?” Raito now said, eyes edging toward the shinigami who lay on the bed. It was probably a futile attempt, but he wanted Ryuk to go downstairs for him so that he could tell him if it was anything remotely important or interesting. There was always the chance it could be one of his father’s co-workers.
ooc:: feel free to use Raito's mother as an NPC if you like.

After a few moments of bouncing on her heels, the door finally opened to reveal a rather pretty woman. “Yagami Sachiko…” Misa read the woman’s name and her eyes brightened. This must be Raito’s mom! Misa wondered what his dad must look like.
Raito‘s mother looked at Misa curiously. She didn‘t blame her, as it was rather late. “Hello. Can I help you?” Misa thought to herself that she must stay calm, not wanting to seem odd. Smiling, Misa bowed respectfully before speaking. “You must be Raito’s mother. I am Amane Misa.” She purposely spoke slowly, acting as calmly as she could. Thinking to herself quickly, she tried to find a way to get in to see Raito easily. “Raito left his notebook in class, so I came to return it.” She gestured towards the bag that hung at her side. Misa figured that if his mother mentioned a “notebook” to him, it would catch Raito’s attention more than anything else.
Sachiko regarded her with the same curiosity as she nodded. “Hold on just a moment, please.” She closed the door partially, though, stepping forward, Misa could still see through the small space left, watching the woman turn and walk towards what looked like stairs. Listening, Misa heard her call to her son. “Raito! There is a girl here to see you. She says she has a notebook for you.”
Stepping back from the door, Misa let out a squeal of delight. It was all finally happening! She was going to meet her hero, her Kira…Raito. She glanced upwards towards where Rem disappeared into the house herself, wondering if she had met the other shinigami. Raito’s mother re-opened the door fully, stating that she had let Raito know she was here. Misa smiled gratefully, still attempting to remain calm, but with each passing second it was becoming more and more difficult. Grabbing the bag at her side, she held it up against her chest once more.
Would he like her? Would he believe her? He would just have to though, if the piece of paper from her Death Note that Rem took upstairs had served its purpose. Now that she thought about it, Rem had been gone for a while. Had she been revealed to Raito? Or had something gone wrong? She mentally shook her head. It wouldn’t matter either way. If Misa were to show him her Death Note, he would have no choice but to see she really was the second Kira.
But not only that, but he would see she would willingly serve him…

Seeing Ryuk, Rem just ended up staring at him, as if to be confused. "Huh?" was all she really said. She did see this shinigami around, often but hardly ever talked to Ryuk. Only because she would be bored, sleeping or watching Gelus. Watching the shinigami, the only real thoughts coming into her mind was that he was really lost it by being in a disgusting world.
Not liking anything at all, that Ryuk was doing to her, trying to boss and tell her to scare this boy. One she didn't even like now by watching him. Though he seemed like any boring idiotic person.
"You're spending your whole time, here wasting it? Maybe be careful with both your notebooks" Rem said, even though Ryuk was too, he stole one as she knew, or as other Shinigmi’s said. Unlike Rem though, she took her second one from Jealous because he died. Only to have to give it to Misa, as it was to belong to her after from the moment she got saved. She heard the shinigami whisper, and she stared at him. She looked at Raito, before shaking her head but Rem just did as she was told, even though she saw no point at all in it, just a boring then to even do. "Flashy? Gruesome? A promise from a shinigami. “Ryuk. I think you've really lost it, or deadly bored." Rem spoke, before moving backwards as she was told.
She glanced around, as she still didn't see Misa, only to be worried about the young girl, but she soon stopped as she heard Ryuk, to her, just being another idiot.
Hearing Raito, Rem shook her head. Humans, oh how she just hated them. Choke on an apple? Could this really be Kira? Because to her, he was sounding like a pure idiot! Nobody knew how to kill a shinigami, besides herself and Misa, hoping the girl wasn't going to spill it, but she had no control over Misa anyway. Not understanding, how one person could try change the world? Being rude to a shinigami as well, but Ryuk did get onto people's bad side at times, but never really on the Shinigmi’s at all.
Hearing the door open, the shinigami turned her head, waiting to see if it was Misa. Knowing it would be the girl, as nobody would really go visit people right now, but then again what would Rem really know about humans? "Misa..." she spoke, as hearing the boy, as she read his name. Yagami Raito, Rem was going to be very careful around him and even keeping close watch on him if he tried or did hurt her beloved Misa.

Ryuk sniffed the air with disdain at Raito's ire.
“Choke on an apple? Really now Raito, someone as smart as you should remember that an immortal can't choke, it's just not dignified, or even possible. If you want though, we can test how much impact your head can take.”
At this Ryuk grinned wryly and leaped from the bed to land next to Raito, who had gone to lean against the wall near the door. As realization at the new shinigami's proximity dawned, his eyes took on a predatory gleam. The shinigami hadn't entered yet, meaning either it hadn't thought the resounding slap was a good enough signal to enter, or else it hadn't heard it.
“Well Raito, what's on your mind? Hyuk, hyuk, you didn't think I was serious about hitting you again, did you? Hrmm, you seem sort of quiet today, maybe we can find something to make the night more exciting? I can try choking on two apples if it'd cheer you up.”
His failed attempts at light-heartedness rebuked, Ryuk joined Raito in sullen endeavors at fusing with the wall. As he placed an arm against it in mockery of the mortal before him, his mind buzzed with activity, and part of his upper body slipped suddenly through the wall and into the hallway.
“Oops,” he thought to himself. “I really should start paying more attention to things, I've gotten too wrapped up in planning.”At this thought, his attention returned to what still stood in the hallway. “This is good though, I almost forgot about the situation. Now to make sure it doesn't happen again. The way things are going, it'll turn out I can choke on an apple seed.”
In the silence that followed, he heard a knock at the door, and Raito's words snapped him back to sharp awareness. Thoughts whizzed rapidly around his head, while he pulled his arm back into the room, and within a matter of moments, two courses of action became very clear to him. Either he could do as Raito had asked and check at the door, though he knew who it was already, or he could remain in the room, much to Raito's chagrin, and try to coax the other shinigami into entering. The other shinigami hadn't seemed too willing to cooperate, so that option would have to be carried our with care, but leaving Raito alone could also prove to be a mistake.
“Hmm, downstairs to the deathnote carrier or up here for the shinigami? Staying up here means some control over things, and downstairs means chaos.” Upon thinking this, his eyes narrowed and his lips twitched slightly into a grin. “Chaos. Hyuk, hyuk, I think I've found the perfect thing to do.”
His mind made up, Ryuk brought himself to his tallest in one large breath, and sauntered nearer to the door.
“Raito, I think I'll go check things now, for all we know, the person at the door could be L. Not much could be scarier than that you know.”
Allowing his whole body to go through the door this time, Ryuk moved stealthily nearer to the other shinigami, his finger pressed to his lips in warning. Now that Raito had made contact with the paper, he'd be able to hear anything said by both shinigami. Leaning close to the shinigami's ear as he passed by, Ryuk whispered softly, “It's up to you now, because I'm off to see your friend downstairs. If you do choose to scare him, try to make it loud please?”
His message given, Ryuk glided down the stairs, silently wondering how he should introduce himself to the new human in his life.
