[/size][/ul][/blockquote][/blockquote] the past: Back in the mid-1800's, a wealthy and prominant society family, the Alistairs, built a large mansion out in the middle of the nowhere. It was more of a castle really, with twisting corridors, towers, and parapets. The estate was huge, spanning nearly 20 acres of land. As the years passed a community built up around the estate, the community turned into a town, then into a city in it's own right. The Alistair's began to lease small portions of their property to the city as they themselves grew to prominance. But like all families, the Alistairs had their secrets. The only Alistair child, a son, could not have children and so, upon his death, the estate passed out of the Alistair hand's and into that of a distant cousin, Rupert Featherington. Featherington, in his fifties and a widower of many years, was a scholar of history and an amateur painter. He also only had one child, a daughter. Like her father, Penelope Featherington was inclined to the arts, especially music, and not so inclined to marry. Unlike the Alistairs, Penelope and Rupert turned the estate into a school and made provisions so that it and the city it supported would never pass into the ownership of any one person. In accordance to their passions, the school was an academy for the arts. Any art one could think of: theatre, music, voice, dance, and so on.
the present: Featherington Academy has now flourished for many years, students from all walks of life coming to learn. It is both alike and unlike many boarding schools catering to older teens. There are cliques, gossip, drugs, and all the other cliche things. But there is also something beneath the surface driving these students: everyone wants to be the best. The Featherington student will do anything for a role, solo, or prime exhibition spot. This isn't just competition to them it's life or death. Try to tell them any different and you recieve a very nasty surprise. Here, the cliques have the power to make or break you. Get on the badside of those at the top and you had better be prepared to defend yourself. The blood, sweat, and tears these students shed could drown the world...better make sure you don't get caught in the undertow. They say only once in a lifetime you get a defining moment. Will yours be in the spotlight or trampled at the bottom of the social ladder?
