She didn't jump when he placed his hands on her hips as they kissed. Although, it made her blush more. Would she ever get used to it? She didn't know and frankly she didn't care. Her heart quickened as he kissed her back.
Disappointment would then settle inside her as he pulled away. But she quickly realized why he did. She became aware that they were still in the gallery. She glanced at the people who had just been staring at them. Her blush deepened.
A small giggle escaped her lips when she saw the small blush on Mathew's face. It was adorable. She didn't care if they were being stared at. Actually, she was quite used to being stared at. But that was for a completely different reason.
She nodded when he suggested they go somewhere else, but she had no idea where to go.
"Yes, I do. But...I just don't know where. Do you have any ideas?" she asked him in a whisper.

So she isn't running out on you yet, give it time you will drive her away yet Matty boy.
The voice would say with a sickening confidence that he would screw this up. It only made Mathew resolve to himself not to screw it up. He wouldn't answer the voice instead he would push it away trying to keep a lid on it and live in the moment instead.
His smile would return back to it's normal way when she said she wanted to leave with him and just didn't know where. That was good, maybe the Kira thing wasn't an insurmountable hurdle after all. Maybe they could have something. It was an encouraging thought.
He would lean in to her ear kissing it briefly with a playful grin on his face as he kept his hands on her hips. A small whisper would escape his lips as he let her know the places he was thinking about.
"Well it would depend on what you wanted to do. If you wanted to talk I would suggest just walking through the streets. However if you wanted to continue this little romantic interlude I am sure we could find a place in the park that is a bit more private and could keep prying eyes off of us."
He would slowly lean back to look at her again with a small grin on his lips. He truly felt happy right now, which was a nice change from the usual self loathing and disgust that he seemed to feel.

Jax's eyes widened when he kissed her ear. She could have sworn her face turned bright red like they did in cartoons. Of course, it didn't help that he then whispered in her ear. She felt her knees weaken, but she held herself up.
What did he say? Something about the streets...Oh geez...I can't focus...Come on, Jax! Focus! Ah, ok. So basically it's either the streets or the park...Hmmm...Wait! Did he just say...r-romantic i-interlude?! Oh my good golly gosh! I am gonna blush to death!
She tried to stop thinking so much. Which did she want to do? The park seemed like a much more interesting place. Also, she didn't really mind where she was as long as Mathew was there. She thought if they went there, he might be able to further distract her from what he had told her earlier.
"Let's uh...ahem...Let's got to the park. That is, if thats ok with you..." she said, talking in a soft voice.

"You know, you are really cute when you blush."
He would say with a wink when she said she wanted to go to the park. He would just smile at her and slowly move his hands from her hips taking her hand in his. He was taking charge now, he knew where the park was at least so he could lead the way, which was comforting to him. More familiar, he hated following someone else, and as sexist as it sounded following a girl was even worse. It made him feel like less of a man.
Then assuming that Jax followed him without protest he would lead her out of the building hand and hand grinning widely. This was nice, thoughts about Kira were already gone from his mind, to him it wasn't a big deal who you supported. It was the life you chose to live, who you were as a person. He couldn't help but wonder what kind of person Jax was though, she was so secretive compared to him. He knew everyone had secrets, he sure did. But, she seemed to have even more, giving him her name was a big deal to her. That just struck him as odd and when added to his assumption to her supporting L based on her reaction to him saying he supported Kira he could only assume she was working with the Kira Investigation or something. That would explain the secretiveness, at least somewhat.
The only problem was he didn't know what to ask, he didn't want to ask something that would put her off and close up which was a risk since she seemed so secretive to him. But he wanted to know more about her, he just didn't know where to start.
"So I am curious, whats your natural hair color?"
He would ask deciding to start shallow and slowly see if he could find out a little bit more about her from this. The reason he was starting shallow was that it would be easier to ease her in to it. If he started off with a real question he might spook her, but if it came to it in the conversation she may tell him. It was like how a frog would jump out if you put it in to a boiling pot of water, but if it was cold and started to boil with the frog in it then it would stay until it died. At least thats what he had heard, he had yet to test that one out.

She blushed just a bit more when he complimented her. She always thought she looked kinda goofy when she blushed. As far as she knew, red cheeks would look weird with pink hair. But she had been told many times before that she looked like a cartoon character come to lift. She took that as a compliment.
As she walked with him to the park, she stayed silent. Thoughts and questions were running through her head like a crawl at the bottom of a t.v. screen.
Why does he support Kira? Does he think of him as an idol? Am I blushing now? No. Now? How about now? Where did he learn to kiss? Did he know that whispering make me flustered? Why does he always push his hair out of his face? Why doesn't he he just get it cut? Why is it so cute when he grins? Will this go any further? Are we going to become a...a...couple?
Her own personal game of 20 questions stopped when he asked her what her natural hair color was. She bit her lip in thought. It was quite a long time ago that she started dying her hair. Ah, she remembered.
"My natural hair color is red. I liked it when I was little because red heads are somewhat rare. But then I saw a comic book character with pink hair and I just had to have it myself." she explained with a smile.

"A red head? Nice, you don't see a lot of them. Normally I like Brunettes but I have been known to go after a red head now and then."
He would say with a wink before lifting up his free hand to push his bangs out of his face again. He tried to picture her with red hair, it would depend on the shade of red for if it looked good or not, but the shade in his mind looked good on her. She must have been a cute kid growing up.
"What comic book character is that?" He would ask turning to face her with a curious look in his eyes, he couldn't think of a comic book character with pink hair. If he had seen one before it wasn't coming to mind now.

"Oh I totally know what you mean. Although I usually go for hot blondes." she joked, imitating him.
She laughed at her imitation, and then at him brushing his hair from his face. It reminded her of her thought she had earlier about getting it cut so that he wouldn't have to do that.
A smile settled on her face as she realized she was becoming more comfortable with him. So much so that she could joke with him freely. She liked this feeling and didn't want it to ever go away.
"She was a character in an anime series called Sailor Moon. Her name was Rini aka Chibi Usa. She was Serena's daughter. Have you heard of it?" she asked.

"Sailor Moon? Yeah I have heard of it. Never watched it though. It didn't really seem like my kind of show to be honest with you."
He would say with a small laugh, but he was getting somewhere now. He wasn't really out to learn anything big, he just wanted to know who she was. He wanted to connect with her as another human being.
"So I take it you watch a lot of anime and stuff like that?"
He would ask figuring that if she changed her hair color for a character then she was probably in to more then just the one series. Though he could be wrong about that, he wasn't huge in to anime and the like himself, but he had nothing against it. He just never seemed to find one that grabbed him enough to sit down and watch it. That or he was always on his computer.

She nodded when he said Sailor Moon wasn't his thing.
"I understand. I figured it was a show more for girls. But hey, I knew a few guys who have watched the entire series." she said with a shrug.
She could tell that he was really trying to get to know her. It made her happy that he was genuinely interested in her. She tried to not let her curiosity get the better of her. It already had before and that didn't work out too well. She always wanted to ask such personal or serious questions.
"I have watched a few. Not alot. I didn't really have time because I would be-...." she cut herself off.
She almost went into her days at Wammy's House. That would have been very, very bad. Her hands played with the hem of her skirt as she tried to think of a way to cover it up.
"I would be busy drawing and painting...I started at a young age." she said, continuing on. It was half true, not a complete lie.

"Well that makes sense I suppose. You are really good too."
He would say brightly once again having no real reason to doubt that little tidbit. It wasn't exactly something most people would lie about, though he did realize that she was more secretive then most people he was on a light topic so it didn't occur to him that she would be hiding things from him on even this topic.
"So when did you start painting?"
It was the logical question to ask next, and he was curious as to how long it took her to get as good as she was. He could honestly say that he was impressed with her work, it was way beyond him, and while he thought he could appreciate it, at least what he got out of it, he knew he could never come close to creating something like what she did. Though of course he had his own talents.

"Thank you. I am glad you think so. It pleases me to know that you enjoy my art." she said.
Her painting days started when she first entered Wammy's House. She remembered they gave her some paper, brushes and a paint set and let her go wild. She ended up painting things outside like the sun, the playground and birds. She painted birds alot. They fascinated her. Even now, she drew birds every once in a while to help her remember things from that place.
"I started painting at the age of 10. That is also when I started dancing. I saw paintings by Degas. He painted such beautiful pictures of ballerinas. After that, I started taking classes. " she said, remembering it.
As a child, she was a bit clumsy. She had no natural grace. It took her quite some time to learn how to be graceful and really control her dancing. Ballet was a type of dance that required alot of discipline. She had been determined to keep going and become the dancer she wanted to be.

Pretty much the only part of that he understood was that she started painting at the age of ten. He assumed that the person she mentioned was some artist he had never heard of, though that wasn't hard since he could name like.... three. Those would be Michelangelo, Picasso, and Di Vinci. Not really that impressive since not knowing them would be pathetic for someone of his intelligence. But the art world had just never been his thing.
"Well that would explain why you are so good, you started young. I still am a bit jealous, but I am just not the artsy type. I don't see myself applying myself to the arts. Though I am not a terrible singer."
He would say with a small shrug before giving her hand a small squeeze. He was glad that she was not calling this off because of a stupid difference of opinion. He would have been very disappointed if she had.
"So I have a serious question for you, and if my mom heard me ask you this she would slap me. My parents always said never to talk about politics and religion, but I think that we are both mature enough to have a discussion without resorting to pettiness."
He would say giving her a small smile and another squeeze of the hand. He was really curious to see how she handled a big question, one that most people were open with, but one that was held close to the heart.
"Do you believe in God?"

A smile played on her lips when he mentioned that he wasn't a bad singer. She would love to hear him sometime. Was she an ok singer? She wasn't quite sure. She had sang along with songs when she painted, but that was pretty much it. She would have to try it and see. Perhaps they could go to a karaoke bar sometime. That would be interesting.
She squeezed his hand back. She loved all his subtle ways of affection. It was because she wasn't used to getting any at all. He was a sweetheart, no doubt about it.
The smile melted from her face when he said he had a serious question for her. Not that it disappointed her or anything. She just figured it was best not to smile if it was going to be serious.
She blinked a couple times after he asked the question. No one had ever asked her that. But more surprisingly, she had never given that much thought to the subject.
Her lips pursed together tightly as she thought about it.
"Hmmmmm. You know, in all honesty, I haven't really thought about it that much. I was always so focused on my art that I never really got into the whole 'creator of the world' thing." she said.

"Well what does your heart say? What does your instinct tell you to believe?"
His tone was casual despite the seriousness of the question, he had asked it on a whim. He thought questions like this could tell you a lot about a person. About how they saw the world, he didn't think anyone thought and saw the world exactly the same, though many people had the same belief. He was interested in how people saw things, but more then that he was interested in her. He still couldn't explain it but they did have a connection, he wasn't a man of god himself but it almost felt like destiny.
No... that was to cheesy, it wasn't destiny that brought them together like this. It wasn't fate, or the will of God, or however you wanted to put it. It was chance, but still he couldn't help but feel like there was a little more to it, even if he couldn't put his finger on it.
"Don't worry, I won't make fun of you no matter what you say." He would say trying to reassure her in case she was nervous before giving her a playful nudge with his elbow.

Jax sat and listened, trying to hear what her heart might tell her. She felt a bit silly doing it. In her life, no one had ever told her to listen to her heart. It had always been logical reasoning to her. Yes, she had learned about alot of different belief systems, but she never really took an interest in believing in one herself. She kinda believed it didn't matter. She felt whatever created the world probably wouldn't care whether she believed in it or not.
The closest thing she ever came to believing was the evolution theory. And that the world was created out of the big bang theory and the ocean mixed different chemicals around. Thus, life began. That seemed reasonable to her.
She laughed and elbowed him back gently. She knew that he wouldn't dare make fun of her on such a seemingly important subject.
"Well, I don't really think listening to my heart will get me anywhere when it comes to religion. I mostly believe in the Big Bang theory and evolution. I am more logical than spiritual. That's just how I was raised." she said with a small shrug.
