It has been thought since almost the beginning of time that 2012 would mark the end of the world. The ancient Mayans have predicted that a great catastrophe will take place, causing the world as we know it to no longer be. And on January First, some were convinced that this was their last year to live. The so-called "crazies" were running rampant through the streets, shouting that the end was near. The skeptics simply shoved them away, refusing to listen to such nonsense.
When the tragedies first started, people barely noticed. But, by June, citizens of the world were starting to get concerned. All sorts of natural disasters were popping up everywhere. Flash floods in China, earthquakes in Russia, and even multiple tornados in Canada. Yes, something was very wrong. Many are blaming global warming, some are convinced that the Earth is putting up a natural defense system to wipe out the human race. The American government has vowed to find a cause for the sudden and erratic behavior of the weather, but have yet to even get a clue. As December grows ever closer, those who believe the Mayan's predictions of the world ending on the twenty-fourth are starting to panic. The one question on everyone's minds? Will we live to see 2013?
Sydney, Australia is one of the few places that has yet to experience a natural disaster, but everyone is on the edge of their seats. When will it happen? What will it be? Some want to flee, but don't know where to flee to. It seems that the entire world is a danger zone and there is no escape. A normal life is hard to maintain lately with all the hysteria, but there are those who are doing it. Welcome to the end of the world. We hope you enjoy your stay. Because tonight we're ghosts.
