[Kagumi Michiyo]

As long as Kagumi wandered around, the longer she was being noticed, and if things were as she suspected, that might not be good at this point. She was already a suspect by a couple of policeman because of all of the deaths happening where she is. but if only they knew she wasnt. She didnt know what this phenomenom was, but she was someone determined to stop it, not keep it going. If she was a suspect, then so were thousands o REAL kira supporters with REAL killing urges, not some young hermit that followed the case ever since the first 2 or 3 heart attacks.

Kagumi had felt she had worn out her diguise a bit, so she decided to go casual today. She wore her normal 4 sizes too big black t-shirt and her baggy black cotton pants that she was used to wearing around whammy house and multicolored crocs. Her scraggly hair was down and her baggy eyes were dark brown, the only thing she had to change. Sulking along the sidewalk with her hands in her pockets she felt rather comfortable now. She wandered into the hotel nearby in determination.

She walked casually up to the counter where a woman popped gum loudly as she read the newspaper plastered with KIRA VS L on the front page. uder the mass of hair Kagumi scowled at the cover as the woman read it intently. turning to the man behind her, " Aint it a bitch Joe? Someone is actually showing these criminals real justice and the police just have to go and ruin it!"

" a damn shame Marie." the old man grumbled. he spit and noticed the teenage girl, " anything you need hun?"

" A room please," she held out the money, " nothing special, just a place to spend a couple of nights." reluctantly, the man took the money and handed her the key to the room. instead of going to the room though, she walked into the guest dining and sat down, getting coffee and beginning to pour the sugar in it while keeping her eyes on the cubes.

Neo had recentlyt arrived in Japan just two days ago.This whole Kira investigation was throwing the entire world for a loop.Neo had jumped at the chance to go to Japan.A case this big was too good to miss.He felt kind of bad for capitalising on such an unfortune turn of events but this was the kind of thing detectives were made for and he wouldnt be a good one if he didnt like what he was doing.Though the top brass back in Barcelone felt this was too dangerous to get involved and ordered him not to go, Neo did the opposite giving his captian the finger as he left.He that he'd be in a lot of trouble once he got back, but he didnt care.He was one of the top dogs in Barcelona depsite his age and rank on the force, so getting fired was the least of his troubles.

Neo situated himself in a hotel in japan close to where the murders were taking place.He couldnt believe all the buzz that was going on about Kira.Some people actually supported the guy.Eveywhere he looked Kira was mentioned in show way shape or form.The news,internet,newspapers magazines,graffiti, He even spotted a few people where Pro-Kira and Anti-kira T-shirts.It seemed the only place Kira didnt exist was in his hotel room.

He got up that mourning,took a nice 20 minute hot shower, then looked through his suitcase debating which suit to put on.He went with the black one that had a white tie and a red shirt with white pinstripes.he then wrapped his Naruto themed headband around his forehand, and but on his red lensed shades.After a quick look in the mirror Neo was out the door.

He walked out the hall with his hands in his pocketsand got on he elevator.While he was riding the elevator a craving for skittles hit him.He reached into his jacket pocket and realised he didnt have any candy on him.Once he got off the elevatorhe headed straight to the dining area hoping they had a vending machine.He looked around but didnt see one.neo then noticed a young woman getting some coffe and headed over to her,maybe she knew where he could score some skittles or any kind of fruitty candy.He also hoped shed be able to understand his Spanish accent.

"Excuse me, miss, but could you please tell me where I could find some candy?"

Neo smiled a little and laughed at himself.He sounded so childish it was ridiculous.Then a gain he was 19 so it was ok for him to still act like a kid at least once in a while he thought.

if Kagumi was concentrating, she wasnt really aware of it. she heard clearly the dull whispers of the surrounding people as they began their silly and small debates about kira. From the corner of her eye through her hair, she could see a young couple talking about it. the girl was pretty, with an american style of a richgirl and the boy was punk, spiked hair and all. they were both glistening with sweat and the girl was padding herself off with a bright pink hankie. the boy was eating like a madman, stuffing his face passionately with bagels and coffee. Kagumi turned back around and took a sip of the coffee, she gagged, not enough sugar. so she set the cup down and began putting in more sugar.

" Didnt you hear me? Kira killed all of those criminals as if it were nothing!" the boy grinned to show his puffy cheeks, " Guess i cant be bad for you any more huh hon?" the girl smiled slyly and grabbed his collar. she whispered something in his ear and they walked up to their rooms, the boy looking particularly starry eyed.

the entire thing made Kagumi a little sick, thats what the coffee was for. As long as kira was around she needed a wake up, it meant she had to work at the organization 24/7, and people at whammy house were suspicious of her doings, so she had no choice but to find a place to hang out until it blew over, or at least her head was clear.

"Excuse me, miss, but could you please tell me where I could find some candy?"

at the sound of another voice, Kagumi jumped. she had not seen anyone around, and she had blanked out for a second, so it was to be expected of her. she put a hand to her chest and took a deep breath, " Sorry about that." she was surprised she understood the accent. " I think i may have some." she pulled out the bag she had the money in and fished, pulling out a couple of bags of candy, skittles, starburst, sour gummi worms, and a couple of chocolate bars, " you can have whatever."

Neo had looked off for a second while she lo0ked through her bag,he always got uncomfortable when when opened their nags infront of him,his mom told him going through a womans purse was the worst thing you could do and since then, he's stayed away from them, he even refuses to watch a purse when asked.

As he waited he noticed the people passing by getting their odds and ends for a semi complete breakfast.Neo never ate breakfast he didnt know why but he never really felt hungry when he woke up.He recently began his mourning candy concumption about a month ago.Doctor's orders.He felt if he had to eat something it would be something he liked.

When he looked back down he was like a kid in a candystore more or less.Skittles,Starburst, gummi worms, all of his favorites were there, he didnt even see the chocolate.Instinct and ethics began to clash in Neo's mind.He wanted the skittles but he didngt feel right just digging into the bag.He decided to just point and ask politely.Meanwhile his tastebuds was begining to dance with excitement.He felt like the Trix rabbit in a way.

He reached his hand out and smiled.

So you're a sugar junkie also,may I have the skittles?"

Kagumi seemed a little taken aback at the way he seemed uncomfortable while she searched her bag for a decent pack of sugar. she always had to keep some with her just in case, because as always she needed the sugar to stay awake during the sleeepless nights of looking over multiple papers for her job. she had usually snuck in after class for food, but now that she was having to run around so much, she needed something as mobile as her so that she didnt die of hunger. She timidly pulled out the skittles and handed thm to the boy.

" yes i am a sugar junkie," she stopped putting sugar cubes in and mixed the coffee, a small mountain of sugar caving in and dissolving in the cup. she pulled out a chocolate bar herself, opened it and broke off a piece in between her teeth, " i grew up that way." she sipped the coffee and smiled. after about a good amount of sugar it was up to par. it usually took her a lot longer, but she guessed there was no problem. she suddenly leaned back and downed the cup of coffee hot, not missing a single drop.

"Really?Wish I grew up where you did.Back home I had to sneak candy between meals.Mis padres thought I was addicted.Though I dont see anything wrong with eating twenty bags of skittles before bed.I think it makes a good midnight snack.Dont you think so?"

Neo ripped the bag open with his hands and poured a few of the bite sized candies into his mouth.The blending of cherrry,orange and lime flavors was a good way to start of the mourning. He saw how Kagumi put a bunch of sugar cubes into her coffee.She wasnt lying about being a sugar junkie in the least bit,She made him feel like an ameteur to the game."That quite the cocktail you have there."

As kagumi poured herself another hot coffee, she laughed at his adniration of her sugar addiction, she had to figure if he didn't know what a real sugar addict was it would surprise him that she actually lived off of sugar. As he talked, she inadvertently began pouring the sugar from the sugar bowl into the coffee. From his perspective, it proibably looked like someone who would get trapped in a conversation and forget it, but she was fully aware of the amount of sugar going in, he complimented her coffee habits and she smiled a bit.

"It looks like that all of the time." She said," after a while you get used to it, but I am more of a cocoa person myself, chocolate bars, coffee, hot cocoa, I'll eat the other things, but not as much as chocolate." She looked down at her forgotten chocolate and thought about breaking off a piece to stir the coffee, a kid at whammys showed her how, but she had never thought about it since until today.

kagumi wouldnt be able to tell because of the shades but Neo's eyes ere getting bugger by the second as she dumped a ton of sugar into her coffee.It looked like she for got what she was doing but somehow he felt she was well aware.It was too much even for Neo's taste and his stomach turned a little just thinking about it.He never thought he would meet someone who would far surpass him in the world of sugar consumption.

When she began to speak about chocolate Neo focused more on what she was aying than what she was doing.He popped a few more skittles into his mouth, grape and lemon danced on his tastebuds this time around.Though he wasnt a chocolate lover she did make him begin to second guess his choice of skittles over the chocolate bar.

Chocolate is good but it stays on the tongue too long after you eat it.Or maybe its just me.If you want really good chocolate you hould go to Spain, its sweeter softer and silkier. Its the only kind I eat now, American chocolate is to stiff and sometimes bitter.Listen to me going on like some kind of candy expert.

Neo laughed then tossed of few more skittles in to his mouth.All cherry.Just off of that alone Neo knew the rest of the day was going to go smoothly.It was his own little supersticion, everytime he got a handfull of all cherries they day went extremely well for him, from passing tests to getting laid the hand full of cherriy skittles brought him good fortune.With this sign he knew his meeting with L would go well.

Though she saw no reaction at all there was suddenly an uneasiness coming fromv him. When he switched his gaze from her automated hand to her own gaze, kagumi laughed a bit and her hand stopped. When she turned to look at the cup, an even bigger mountain of sugar was now in the cup. Out of curiosity, kagumi picked up the chocolate bar, broke off vertically a stripan then began stirring it with the strip.

" I know, the expensive stuff is well worth it, but I am only a student, meaning I have no job. So I just work with what I have, buy in bulk, white and milk chocolate that I can afford, cherish it, make it worth my while." Kagumi smiled. " But to each his own I supppose, if you enjoy fruity stuff then go ahead, it means more chocolate for me!"

"Yep and vice versa.You're a student? Sometimes I wish I would've stayed in school,but I dont think I'd give up being a detective.So where do you go to school at if I may ask?"

Neo tilted his head back and dumped a few more skittles into his mouth until it was full before chewing.It was a nice combination of all of the flavors the bag had to offer.Now he only had a few skittles left but the craving had mostly been satisfied so he wouldnt have to worry about thatr nymore.He put the bag of about eight skittles into his jacket pocket then adjusted his shades to fit a little more comfortably.

Kagumi bit her lip, there were more things she had to explain, there was a little bit more prying, " its just a private school, I'm not sure if you know it. Its in Maui, but ive been transferred to london and im vacationing in japan as an exchange student." It sounded believable, it was a half truth anyway. She was from Maui, but was sent to whammy's house in london. on occasions, the kids would go to japan to hang out, but she had more than just fun here.

" While the other kids are out having fun, i came here to study the kira case a bit, hide in the rallies, talk to supporters, things like that." once again, a half truth she felt the truth.

There it was the "K" word that was everywhere nowadays.He was wondering when it would rear its ugly head.Seemed everyone was dropping what they were doing to come see or at least better understand Kira.Neo had joined in on a rally himself though it was unintentional as he had to get through the crowd to get out of the airport.

"Speaking of Kira, I hear there are two of them.Thats not exactly a reassuring fact.Bad enough we got one murdering that we cant catch but now two?I'm suprised Japan hasnt imposed martial law or something to prevent the situation from getting even farther out of hand.Then they're letting Sakura TV post up those tapes as if this is some kind of game or something.They should be trying to keep this between Kira and the police, at least thats my take on it."

Neo adjusted his shades again then let out a sigh.With two kira's pn the lose these job was becoming even more dangerous but Neo wasnt ready to turn away now.After all he had jut got there.He just had to find L and convince him to let him help put in the investigation, then with what ever information the group had gathered Neo would be able to do what he did best: solve the mystery.

Kagumi had to figure it to come. she was right, this kid was a detective, meaning that when there were situations like this there was always a detective mode they tend to go into when the situation arises. Kagumi's mind was going into detective mode too as she continued to nibble on the chocolate bar, her amber eyes in stillness as if under deep thought. She had taken in his comments like a sponge and continued to listen as if they werent relevant to her. her mind flashed back to the sakura tv's discraceful night.

" even if it is not a reassuring fact, it sure seems that way to me." she said, " I mean when i watched what happened last night, it proved it. the way kira killed without a name, which im pretty sure based on the past broadcasts is what he needs, it wasnt his way. and kira was also one to kill criminals, yet he began to almost randomize his killings to go for whomever tried to walk through the door. it felt more like a 'notice me' venture than anything else. it has to be two, there is no doubt in my mind."

and with that finish, she bit off a piece of chocolate with a 'crack!' she had learned to notice those details from 4 broadcasts. she was very proud of it, but she felt lie she had let that overwhelmingly mechanical mind of hers slip, but hopefully there was no difference

Listening to her just then put everything into perspective.There was indeed a second kira,but why would you want to be noticed?

"You're right it did all kinda go against all prior actions made by kira.But if that is the case why go so far out of the way to call attention to yourself?Why not hide in the other Kira's shadow and work that way.You think this one feels it has something to prove to the other?Like to see who can kill the most?"

This was a posibbility but it would be the worst case scenario.Two kira's having a kill-a-thon to prove who's better would put Japan in complete chaos.But with the new one apparently not needing a name this meant they would easily be able to win at such a game.The wheels continued to turn in Neo's head as he tapped his fingers o the naruto headband on his forhead.Was he felt he was on to something but what would be the motive for this.

though he didnt notice the difference, nor did he seem suspicious of her, Kagumi still felt that with this series of questions there might be another slip. she was surprised how few people made these inferences like her, but she had to figure in inexperience to the equation. he seemed open to her suggestions and the therioes her mind stuck to and she hoped to god were right most of the time. she had yet to tell any of this to mr.kin, but she promised herself that she would give her theories at the next meeting, or even sooner to mr. zet during training. chewed on the chocolate as he asked his questions.

" well, maybe not to call attention to everyone, maybe it was a call to kira," she said slowly amost her thoughts, " kira is unknown, so they probably had to do it that way for kira to see. if they decided to kill like kira, then it would be the norm and go unnoticed. if they were playing who kills the most, nearly half of tokyo would be dead by now at the rate kira kills criminals and the second kira's.....abilities, you might call them." she took a bite of her chocolate, " so far, unless kira knows the second one personally, which i highly doubt, then television and news are the only ways of communication until the two of them decide to meet face to face and sort out this mess kira 2 has made."

She noticed the other boy going into deep thought, tapping an odd looking headband on his head. As long as she explained the kira case, she was treading on thin ice with her identity, she had to be more careful.
